About this design:
The focal piece is a "hunk" of Dominican amber I searched for during my trip to the Dominican Republic last Christmas. I've been working on this one since summer and am finally pleased with the results. I credit one of Ivy's fresh picks from a while back for the idea of using the antique soocho with the amber.
Can't decide if I want to keep it or sell it.
Components:
Dominican amber pendant and round beads, Antique Soocho Jade, Silver. pewter, seed beads, Bali...Read the comments (or add your own)

Leigh D says:This is so beautiful – the jade compliments the amber perfectly! I hate the dilemna of “to sell or not to sell”.
On Oct 08, 2009 at 6:14 pm #
Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Thank you, Leigh!
It really is a dilemna with this one. It’s not like I can replace that piece of amber and duplicate the piece.
I wore it yesterday and my friends laughed when I told them I made the earrings at 5:30 am.

Wemai Coffee Chick says:Wow, what a stunning design! I know that dilemma too!!
On Oct 08, 2009 at 6:16 pm #
Leigh D says:That would be the deciding factor for me – not that I try to recreate my designs – but when I know the likelihood of finding another gorgeous piece of amber like that is slim – I would end up keeping it.

Sali Jo GemsChica Chick says:only one word…..FABULICIOUS! What a stunning design!

Dragons Chicky says:Oooooo, what a choice, keep or sell….hard one. It sure is a lovely piece of amber and amber is getting more rare. Oh gosh! I would keep it.

Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Love the colors, love the amber pendant, love the design! I’m with the girls above – I would definitely keep this because finding such a nice hunk of amber again could be a challenge – and you’ll kick yourself the next morning after you sell it!

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:ok, ok – I’ll keep it!
you’re all right – that amber piece is irreplaceable. And it would cost a fortune here in the US. I bartered for a really good price in DR. don’t know well I’ll get back now that we have college expenses.
On Oct 09, 2009 at 8:30 am #
CAS says:Undeniablely one of the loveliest pieces I’ve ever seen. This is most definately a piece to keep, and pass on as a family heirloom. Hugs!

Shanti P says:A keeper!!! Love, love , love the amber!!
On Oct 09, 2009 at 9:12 am #
Debbi aka Sparkle Chick says:Very rich colors….I’m so glad you are going to keep it! Ditto to everything everyone above said…not only do I love the amber pendant and the antique soocho jade, but I love the metals you used. I would expect to find this in a high end NYC boutique for sure!
On Oct 09, 2009 at 9:26 am #
D D Mystic Chick says:ooo, very nice Gem Chick! since the amber came from your trip to DR I would think you’d keep this necklace for sentimental value, plus the fact that it’s so pretty!
On Oct 09, 2009 at 9:39 am #
Yorkie chick aka CC says:This is a beautiful design! Totally agree with the rest of the crew, Keep it!
On Oct 09, 2009 at 9:43 am #
Chicky Bear-Tara says:I think you should keep it. Not only are your pieces beautiful, but that amber would always remind you of your trip. You will probably never be able to find a piece like it.

Gemme Designs says:This is fabulous, if I could buy it I would say sell it
, but if I were you I’d keep it for sure. I luv amber!! Luv the double strand too and the jade and the earrings, again very nice!!
On Oct 10, 2009 at 10:35 pm #
seashellsally says:Ditto to Johanne……double strand sends this over the top and adds to the substance of that gorgeous amber. Soocho is a grand one to use with the amber. It has similar glow.
Some real stunners here of late, Jeanne.
Thank you for the inspiration.

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Thank you all! This is one of those pieces that sat around, in progress, for a while. I’d pick it up, play with the length, add something, take something… I even brought it with me to the local shop to look for another bail and she convinced me to keep the leaf and I walked out empty handed (that day – LOL)
Such a great feeling when it was finished – and fun to wear!
On Oct 11, 2009 at 10:06 am #
Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Jeanne, I’m so happy you are keeping this stunning necklace (since you’re not selling it to me — LOL)! You’ve done a fabulous job with the design, the colors, and the leaf bail is terrific! So glad you didn’t change that! I love the double-strand design — it really adds substance to balance out that gorgeous hunk of amber.
BTW, only fellow beaders understand the creating of earrings at 5:30 AM to wear that same day. We would just smile knowingly and nod our heads in agreement. ROTFLOL
