About this design:
Had to redo this one, even though you have been extremely supportive :) I added one more petal which helps, but still as much wire... but hey since it's OK! :) I'm happier with it.
Components:
Blue Rhyolite, Swarovski pearls and copper eternity links and toggle clasp.Read the comments (or add your own)

Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:Johanne, I LIKE the metal in the middle! This flower is so cool. The only suggestion I might make is to use 1 blue pearl in the ‘bail’ rather than 2…but that’s just my preference. This is a wonderful design and great color combo!

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:I don’t see anything wrong with it! Love the flower as is! A great “mod” design!

Starsparkle Spiral Chick says:This is really pretty & I’d imagine quite tricky to do!
I can’t think of another way to do it with less wire showing, but the wire is part of the design so make it a feature!

Sali Jo GemsChica Chick says:This is…FABULICIOUS! Very creative! It is not an easy technique…I have made a couple of flowers with wire and beads and it is a pain….but yours is pretty and the beads on the necklace are fabulous too! Great design!

Classy Chick JbyJill says:I like the wire showing! The flower is gorgeous
The only suggestion I would have is to oxidize the wire….. This would just give it a different look.

Dragons Chicky says:I also like the wire showing as part of the design but as Classy Chick suggested you could oxidize it for a different look, either way, great design.

Gemme Designs says:Thanks to all of you nice ladies
How do you oxidize copper btw and what does it look like?
On Oct 19, 2009 at 9:19 pm #
K H says:First of all, I like the brightness of the copper – it lights up the flower, but that is JMHO for whatever that’s worth. As for oxidizing copper – I tried a little experiment over the weekend and learned that most artistic wire, many metal beads and findings are treated with an anti-tarnish finish that will preclude creating a patina. The “recipe” I tried called for mixing sea salt, ammonia and vinegar, pouring it into an absorbant medium and burying copper and brass objects in the absorbant medium. I would be concerning about putting chemicals on the gemstones and pearls. I know that Cotopaxi Chickie Sue and Chickie LE have worked with liver of sulphur. Cotopaxi Chickie Sue ia our resident chemist. I check with her before I start mixing things together!!!

Gemme Designs says:Thanks K H, I like the brightness of copper too and I’m not ready for oxidizing but I appreciate the info!

Elaine aka Belly Chick says:I think this is very pretty…I love the ‘flower’ and I think that the brightness of the wire gives it a look straight from nature…you know, how flowers sometimes have that lighter color right near the center. I added this to my favs!!

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:This is beautiful, Johanne! I love the design you came up with! I do a lot of oxidizing of silver and copper, but I also leave a lot of pieces “as is” — this is one I wouldn’t change at all!

Glassy chick Sonal says:This is awesome Johanne!! I loved it…I wish I could make something like that

My beads were drilled top to bottom so I could not use this technique, but you might want to try it with the right beads! Enjoy and share your work!!
