Out in the Cosmos

About this design:

I made this piece to enter a challenge and it is getting published in a magazine (I can't divulge which one until it comes out due to a contract). I was mostly inspired one night by more modernistic art and threw this together.

Components:

vintage lucite beads, swarovski crystals, black tubing, memory wire

Whoo hoo – someone else who likes memory wire – I am so excited! This is wonderful and I love your color choices. You will have to tell us what magazine this piece is going to be in when all the deets are ironed out – Congrats!!!!

Thank you, Leigh D. Yeah, I know, some people absolutely despise memory wire, but I tell you, it is very versatile and never loses it shape. Also, I like it because it is very size friendly with different wrist sizing, etc. The green and purple together are one of my favorite color choices. I will definitely let you know the details when I am allowed to. :)

Congrats on the publication deal – I will keep my eyes open for it! Great color combo – I’ve only tried memory wire once, when I was a very young beader. I can’t quire visualize you get the tubing onto the wire – but the results are worth whatever engineering feat necessary! :)

I love the green and purple together, and the black tubing definitely gives this a modernistic look to it! Good luck on the challenge – this deserves to win!

Love purple and green together, and the addition of the black tubing really makes them POP!!! I love working with memory wire, too!!! :D

Thank all you wonderful fellow jewelry artists for your feedback! It means a lot to me. K H, the black tubing is actually a tubing made from the company BeadSmith, and I believe it is just called black jewelry tubing or jelly tubing. I used a scissors and/or my cutter to cut pieces off (I eyeballed them) and you just slide them right onto the memory wire like a bead. It’s kinda neat stuff to fool with. :)

Wow! You’ve taken some rather simple elements and made them into something smart and beautiful. I’m convinced, I have to get back to my memory wire. Congrats on the magazine too … very cool.
