Dragon Flys & Gemstones

About this design:

Yes, I have a thing for all that is Dragon Fly (perhaps I should be Dragon Fly Chick :) ) I saw a picture of a bracelet using these charms and added in some gemstones that I really liked.

Components:

Chrysocolla Jasper, Sapphire flatbacks, gold plated charms and findings

This is gorgeous–would you share where you got the dragonfly squares? I have a girlfriend that is another dragonfly fan and her business name is Dragonfly Designs. I would love to make her something this cool. Thanks!

What a fabulous design, Eileen! I also love dragonflies and would love to know where you found those beads, please! :D

Congrats on your new Chick name, DragonFly Chick, and welcome to the Flock!!! :D

I’m so glad you like it and thank you!!! Of course I’ll share…..Artbeads.com has the dragon fly charms in silver, gold and copper. Oh, and sorry, I goofed on the colour of the flatbacks – I had both Sapphire and Emerald since I wasn’t sure which I’d like better with the stones – they were both nice but I used the Emerald since I’m more of a green gal. (be warned, those little beasties are a colossal pain to work with !!!)

So glad to hear you picked your Dragonfly Chicky name. Like that one. You would have liked my yard this summer. I had so many dragon flies and some of them were huge. Never have seen so many.
I’d be bent over, stand up and they would buzz me.
    Then I’d duck.

Love this bracelet, Dragonfly Chick! And welcome to the nest! What a great idea, to add the swarovski crystals to the dragonfly charms – it really adds to the charm! (Pun intended!) :D

Must ask: why are the flatbacks a pain to work with?

  15. DragonFly Chick Eileen
    DragonFly Chick Eileen says:

Faith – I think I would have LOVED your backyard with all those dragon flies !! I was waiting for some inspiration on the Chick name and there it was :)

Sue – thank you – like the pun ! :) I found them really difficult because they are so freakishly small – I dropped them (several times) and they are really fun to try and find on carpet – then they were hard to pick up and place (I suppose I could have tried tweezers but I’m not great with them either) – started out upside down in the charm – thank goodness I glued the back of the emerald and didn’t put glue on the charm itself or that would have been a mess – it could just be me (fat fingers???) but I was surprised at how hard it was to get those things were I wanted them to be.

    Happy Chick aka Harriet says:

LOL Love the commentary! I wondered if I was the only one who dropped the little stuff very often. ;)

This is such a gorgeous bracelet!!! :D I really like the way you added in the flatbacks to pull in the greens of your stones. :D

  17. Cotopaxi Chickie Sue
    Cotopaxi Chickie Sue says:

Eileen, I was LOL at your description of working with these flatbacks! Maybe that’s why I haven’t tried them yet? But I really love how you used them, so I’ll just have to suck it up and give it a try! ;-)

    Glassy chick Sonal says:

I agree with all the chikies…this looks gorgeous…you’ve done a great job!!
Love your name and I should tell you that I am a dragonfly fan too but only with the beads and charms and not the real ones :)
@Harriet ~ I drop my jumprings and beads too and I have black spotted tiles around my work area so you can imagine how hard it is to find them back.

  19. Lynn Eileen Chicky LE
    Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:

Eileen, thanks so much for the info about the beads! I didn’t realize at first that you had added the flatbacks to them until I read your description more closely (slow down, Lynn!)!!! I’ve also worked with those little devils, and I used tweezers, and they were STILL tricky to handle!!! 8O
