Unsure Of Unakite

About this design:

I made this piece but to be honest I'm not a real big fan of Unakite. I love Peridot and it seems a shame to put it beside a stone that I'm not overly fussed on. Will wait a few days and then decide if it stays or whether it gets recycled into another creation.

Components:

Unakite, Peridot, Unidentified Green Stone and Sterling Silver.

I’m like you – not a fan of Unakite, but I think the mix you’ve done here is very nice! If you should change it could be with more Peridot. That will make it even nicer, I think! :-)

Wow, Bree- I love how you’ve jumped right into this!
I go back and forth on unakite myself. I agrre with Wenche that this is a nice mix. I think I might like to see a little more silver in between the ovals. I often use the small (#11) seed beads in “metallic silver” as an inexpensive alternative to sterlling.

Well I will have to be the voice of descention – I love Unakite! I think you did a fantastic job with a stone that you are not sure you are a fan of – I think that this shows you have talent. Jeanne’s idea of using the metallic silver seed beads to accent is a good idea – also do you have any small silver daisy spacers – I think these would look great between the unakite ovals and add a hint of silver as well.

I too love Unakite…have several strands of a lovely twist bead that I’m aching to get my hands on (have to finish the other 4 necklaces laying around in various stages of doneness.

If I were going to do anything to this necklace I would make the peridot part a bit longer and have less of the rounds at the end. The Peridote with the Unakite is spectacular.

I’m not a fan of Unakite…but my customers are. I use cherry quartz along with the Peridot and lots of silver spacers. Bree, the other gals have good suggestions. With green so good this season..get it done and it will sell.

Hi Bree. I like what you have done with this. I like my jewelery plain and simple. The unakite is to me a fussy stone in itself. I would wear this without changes and it would allow me to be slightly different than I am. If you added more or changed the peridot to a simpler version it would make me happy. I also like the copper look to mimic rose gold. It takes all kinds of people and I am sure if you are going to sell your jewelry this piece would sell. If you are going to wear it and you are not happy with it I would make the changes that you like. What ever I make wil most likely be for me. My husband wants me to create to sell we’ll see.

This is BEAUTIFUL!!! The peridot gives it that sparkle & brings out the unakite! I have alot of those unidentified beads!!! LOL……………. I try to keep track of their names, but, alas, it does’nt always work!!! OH WELL! Love this Bree!!

Unakite is one of those stones that people seem to love or not….poor thing. LOL You’ve done a terrific job designing with it, Bree! I would also add some more “silver” as Jeanne & Leigh suggested, just to break it up a little. Great photo! :D

I’ve been on the fence since the first time I saw unakite…do I like it or not…? I like what you have done with it in this necklace. As for the unidentified green stone let’s just file it away with the mystery metal I used in one of the pieces I put in the gallery quite some time ago. Unidentified…mystery… works for me. :D

Correction: It was “mystery material” I used. I think it was an earring in a former life but never have identified what it is made of.
