About this design:
Not sure if I should keep these dangles? I loved the glass beads when I bought them but haven't figured out what to do with them. I'm not loving this design, any ideas? I think I need to have the design in mind before I buy beads.

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:Rosie – these days I let the beads in my stash speak to me. Stormy chick is so right! – You don’t have to have a design in mind before you buy beads. You can never have too many.
As for the dangles – I like them. I think I might put them closer together – but I’d have to see it hanging. I really like the colors.

Sali Jo GemsChica Chick says:I agree…when you build your bead stash…say start with one color..your favorite color…add different shapes and sizes…a pendant or two…then throw it all out on the table and start moving it around….the design will come to you then…..at least that’s how I do it….

grama rose aka stormy says:I was thinking that also gem chic but couldn’t figure out how with her placement of spacer beads: would change everything alot… Rosie you are doing great keep it up…

Little Round Chick says:Love the colors and the over all design is great. However, I think Gem Chick’s idea of moving the dangles closer together is good one. The two outer ones placed on either side of the center one would probably give greater emphasis to all of the dangles. Oooops, sorry. Didn’t mean to get preachy. Comes from too many years of being a teacher.

Jeannes Gems - Gem Chick says:I’m glad you ladies agree – I always hesitate when it might sound like criticism. But our friend asked for ideas -
Rosie – like Stormy Chick I was concerned about changing your bead pattern. You might have to play around with it. You could try just one round and a rondelle between each dangle.
Are the green beads also glass? They look like aventurine – a favorite of mine.

Rosie says:Thank you ladies for all your help. I don’t take offense at all to any ideas. I am a beginner in every sense of the word. I want to learn all I can about beading. It will give my bead addiction some meaning
Gem Chick I think the green ones are glass but unfortunaly my short memory is not what it should be. I’m trying to keep my bead containers labeled now so I remember what is what

Jewelry by Shannon says:So funny we all agree, you can never have too many beads and don’t just buy them to make something you have in mind. I call it when I’m shopping “I need this” … need is a relative term. I don’t need any more beads but there are certainly those shapes and sizes that will round out my creations!
I’m thinking that this one could use a little larger bead to set things off and make the whole design sing. Maybe something in the tan family to set off the beautiful glass beads? This is going to be a beauty. I agree, moving the dangles a little closer and another larger focal bead and you will love it! SLS

Linda Talbott says:This is really lovely. I like the dangles.

CAS says:Throwing in my two cents … I agree that the dangles should be more central in the necklace (like Jeanne, Stormy Chick & LRC have said) … perhaps lenghtening the middle dangle using two of the dangles as one with one dangle on either side making a “V” shape … just a thought …

KittyMom Linda says:Never say too many beads! Even when I have a design in mind and buy the beads for it, they generally end up incorporated into a totally different design. Go figure. Didn’t you know beads have a mind of their own, and they are very vocal about what they want to be. However, ONLY beaders can hear them speak. So when others look at you a little strangely, don’t worry, WE BEADERS understand. As for your piece, my first impression was move the dangles a little closer together, and perhaps make the center one a bit longer than the others. However, we are all different, and I’ll bet it looks great on you this way too!

Chicky Zee aka Alice says:Never have too many beads I agree with all. I buy all the time that way whien I’m ready to bead the bead are there!!!!I love dangles also could move the dangles closer!!!!

Cj w aka Slacker Chick says:You could make smaller dangles with the smaller beads to go between the larger dangles. Say yes to the bead. I buy what I like, a color or shape I want to try or that strikes me as unique. Sometimes I see the item I want to make immediately in my mind, other times to wait for the rest of the picture to come along. I get inspired by the beads, nature, making a project,
pictures, shapes, Lima Beaders, and dreams. Start a picture folder of things you like for inspiration.

Rosie says:Thanks everyone all your comments are really helpful. I am going to try to get some beading time in today hopefully (housework and work are so time comsuming)
and move those dangles closer together. Its a relief to know that getting beads just because I like them without a design in mind is a good thing and I will continue to do that!
