Rainbow Bracelet

About this design:

This is the prototype for my Autism Awareness bracelet. Knowing that many people with autism prefer a rainbow to the puzzle piece, I wanted it to be versatile and appeal to either group. The puzzle pieces are sterling silver and can be customized with an imprint of an initial - the M here is for my best friend's son Michael, who was diagnosed with Asperger's 2 years ago, after his mother fought for 3 years to figure out what was going on with him. She is the president of our local autism support group for parents/caregivers, and has been a wonderful source of information to me as my 17-year-old's most recent psych testing validated my concerns and clarified that yes, he does indeed show tendencies towards classic autism.

This bracelet is also going on my site as an option for gay pride - switching the puzzle piece out for a silver-toned awareness ribbon. 8 out of 10 of my closest friends identify as a member of the LGBTQ community.

Components:

Glass seed beads, silver plate cones and clasp, sterling puzzle piece

This is beautiful and for such a worthy cause (actually 2 great causes)
Where do you get the silver puzzle piece? I walk in a local 10k in the fall for autism research. There used to be a woman who sold jewelry – I’d love to have a few pieces for next September.
