About this design:
I found something very inexpensive to use for a three sided earring display....three BBQ trays! They were at the dollar store and cost $1.25 each. One edge is bent upwards (or outwards at the bottom edge as it shows in the pictures) which makes for a very solid base when they are placed in a triangle shape and I just have to come up with a more attractive way to hold the handles together. I was originally looking for cooling racks to attach together in this shape but these were much more attractive in black and with the finer wire.

Boston Lady says:Hi Elaine! How about tying ribbons on the edges to keep them together? Or what about using those large split rings that they use on keychains and have some beads dangling from them for decoration. Just a thought. Great idea you have though. You can really get a ton of earrings on those three racks! How smart you are!

Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Thanks ladies! Good ideas for the edges, Boston Lady!! I’m not that smart, I’m just very cheap… …I’d rather spend my money on gems!!!

Jade aka Caryn says:Awesome idea. It looks really cool. How bout making some kind of sign to advertise the earrings to cover them up

Vampire Chickie Ravin says:Awesome idea!!! I use a dowel rod and 3 bricks, lol. What about ribbon…OH wait…or like, some leather lacing with beads and feathers, Native American style…or even strands of decorative lace trim? That comes in spools like ribbon in the fabric stres and such.

Vampire Chickie Ravin says:Oh, another idea, some of that green florists tape, and some really pretty artificial flowers and greens and such?

Orchid Betty says:Interesting and functional display, I will tie the sides with some inexpensive strong wire just twisting the wire in two places each side, keeping it simple so the attention will go to the earrings!
On May 22, 2010 at 7:24 am #
Green Eyed Lady Chick says:I agree with Betty, use some inexspensive black wire. This is a very cool way to hang your earrings!!!

Elaine aka Belly Chick says:Thanks so much for your comments and ideas, ladies!! I’m leaning towards black ribbon or wire as well, or a combination of the two! I’m quite happy with the way it looks put together and the fact that if I use something that is easy to put on and off, it makes it very portable and easy to store as well! My husband suggested a roll of black craft paper just set inside to make the earrings show up a bit better. I’m also wondering if there would be a way to make it into a turning display by placing it on a lazy susan….I might have to go garage sale’ing on of these days!!

DragonDreams says:I did a similar display. I used two fireplace screens, and wired them together back to back. they fold down, I don’t have to remove the wire, and the square shape is sturdy. I had the use of one of those spinning plastic racks and it kept tipping over. I have a large rectangular piece of wood that is on a spinner, I put the whole display on it, and now it spins.
