About this design:
I thought I'd share one of my favorite necklaces. It's my favorite for more than just being beautiful. After research of the metaphysical and healing properties of stones, I created this personal amulet to try and help me lose weight. Many people believe that stones and minerals emit energy and promote healing, and after joining LB and the Garden I do believe it is true. We all love working with these beautiful stones created in nature and we all have our favorites. Ever think maybe that's because of the emotional and physical healing power of these beauties? You may think this is just mumbojumbo but give it a thought. Sometimes I just feel better after handling and working with stones. Maybe I'm just crazy!

Boston Lady says:This is a very pretty focal point to your necklace. I like the way you attached the bead strands to the donut and then used the bale to attached the donut to the necklace. Really smart. Great job.

Boston Lady says:Dear Chippy Chick,
Don’t think it’s mumbojumbo. I live in an area where stones and balancing chakra’s rule. I was told that if you wash your stones in salt water and then leave them in the sun, it not only purifies the stone but the stones gather more energy. I have made several pieces of jewelry for friends who are into stones and chakras.

Vee aka Dream Chickie says:Chippy Chick, I totally agree about the healing powers of crystals and stones! That is the main reason why I started creating jewelry for myself and others. Second reason was for fashion. lol
Beautiful pendant!!! You did an amazing job!

sunny chick says:This necklace is amazing! I love how you wrapped chain around the donut and dangled all those lovely beads from it. Gorgeous!

FaeryGoth Chick says:Chippy Chick, this is a gorgeous focal! And I am also a person who believes that crystals have healing powers. I work with crystals a lot and find that they can be useful. Like Vee said, that is the main reason for using crystals in my jewelry

Orchid Betty says:I also believe in the healing ability of stones. Which of these stones help in weight loss or is it a different stone for each person?
Love the Donut and the way you used bail to hang it, beautiful dangles!

Canadian chicky karen says:Beautiful job on this design!! Love the donut and the way you attached your dangles and the bail. I believe stones have healing powers as well.

Chippy Chick aka Lindys says:Thanks everyone for the encouragement! The apatite is suppose to reduce hunger and encourage inspiration; amethyst: purification and release of addictions(food for me) obsidian: cleansing of negativity; Rose quartz: release of stress and emotional healing; tourmaline: brings balance, gives self-confidence and calms; rock crystal: master healer and stone of power amplifying one’s intentions (in my case to lose weight). Betty, I would say that the crystals and stones you use would depend on your situation.

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Linda, this is gorgeous! I love the way you’ve tied it all together to make an amazing pendant! Thanks for all the info, too — very helpful!
Funny that “apatite” reduces “appetite”!!!
On May 26, 2010 at 12:19 pm #
Vee aka Dream Chickie says:Chippy Chick, love the stone healing info! I would also like to add that rock crystal can also amplify other stones around it.

Chippy Chick aka Lindys says:BTW, I forgot to list the properties of the sodalite. Sodalite balances the metabolism including thyroid, blood sugar, blood pressure etc. It also cools burns and infections.

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:Chippy Chick, I have often wondered, can you mix the ‘wrong’ stones together and get a negative response?
Many of us beaders mix stones in our pieces with only the design in mind and no thought to what the effect will be. What do you think?
On May 26, 2010 at 2:40 pm #
Orchid Betty says:Thanks Linda, this is great information, I just realized that we need a combination of qualities to solve one situation; I will create a necklace specific to my needs, thanks again.

KittyMom Linda says:Exquisite – cant say enough about it – and gonna get into the stones more myself too!
On May 26, 2010 at 5:15 pm #
Wemai Coffee Chick says:Nicely made! And maybe that’s the reason why I feel so well after making jewelry and sometimes I don’t need to sleep when I do it, so maybe it gives me energy….????!!!

Jewelry by Shannon says:I really like the way this pendant turned out … what a great way to use a donut (with no calories!). SLS

Chickie Nonnie T says:I for one know that working with the gemstone beads is therapeutic. I’ve also joked that it is addictive. I don’t know about that, but I do know that I just love doing it.
What exactly is a chakra? I see that term a lot and have been wondering what it was… I love your necklace.
On May 26, 2010 at 7:13 pm #
Chippy Chick aka Lindys says:Thanks everyone for your comments! It is food for thought isn’t it. Mary, I don’t think mixing stones would necessarily have a negative effect, but mixing could cancel out the benefits of certain stones. And to Nonnie, a chakra is a term for energies in Indian ( Hindu) medicine. I don’t even quite understand it yet. Maybe somebody else more educated in Indian culture could give us an answer.

The best book I’ve seen about healing stones is LOVE IS IN THE EARTH, A Kaleidoscope of crystals, by Melody. It is so interesting to read about the different stones.
