About this design:

Shannon was wondering how the 26 gauge copper worked to crochet rows. It was difficult (I'll show pics below) Then I remembered that I did have what is probably 28 gauge wire from Home Depot.

So... Here is my first attempt at crocheting rows with wire and beads.

Components:

28 gauge (?) copper wire, 3 mm ruby fuschite, size F crochet hook, copper toggle

    Thank you Deb! You can see how I got better as I went along. Started with bottom rows. The top 2 rows are much neater and even.

    WOW, I saw my name today in the heading and of course had to take a closer look. I’m in AWE. What a beautiful bracelet … looks like the 28 gauge was definitely easier to work with. And now looks like you have mastered the technique. Looks like a fun portable project … and the end result is so soft and wearable! FAVE.

    (I have some 30 gauge that I’m saving for my next try!!)

    Thank you so much friends! I am an experienced yarn crocheter so this was not that difficult for me. The trick was figuring our how to put on the beads so the always on the same side of the bracelet. I’m not sure how it will work with larger stones because on the “right side” you slide the bead up first then pull it through. When working on the “wrong side” I slid the bead up during the yarn over step. (Lynn, I’m sorry if that makes no sense, I’m not sure how to explain it. Wonder if I could get hubby to video tape?)
    I crocheted 4 rows then pulled the ends together with wire so it looks graduated, but it’s not.

    Thank you so so much everyone! I wore it yesterday, but no one saw it :( Just went to the hospital for a test and back home to sleep.

    Shannon – you have to string the beads on ahead of time and pull them up as you use them.
    And it takes a lot of wire. I made this to fit my tiny wrist snugly. It’s about 6″ long and used about 16 feet of wire.
