A Nugget of wisdom

About this design:

This one I made a while ago, I love this simple but bold bracelet. This was made of a few different types of gemstone nuggets ( most of them being diff colors of Agate) that I got at different places. The charm on the end says "balance" and the clasp says "create" little reminders of what I love and what I need to do more!

My mother always said…”If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”. I think that is a good thing to do and applies in this instance. I do believe that everyone has their own opinion and has the right to express it, but on this site, where everyone is creative, and does their own thing…we should not be critical. I just got back on line and saw this. I too am annoyed that someone would make a negative comment. I’m with Tara, if you don’t like something, then don’t comment, just move on…. This should be a site of encouragement. Constructive criticism is one thing but negativity is in a completely different ballpark.
Inspired2Create, I love this bracelet. It has character and individuality, and I like that in a piece. I also will take random stones and create a unique piece. I have also found that customers like them as well. As Tara and Debbi have said, it can go with so many outfits.
I love it!! Contine to create what’s in your heart and what you enjoy.

LOL You guys are awesome really what nice things to say, well most everyone .. I would also say that we all have different tastes and ideas and that is what makes the world and the art/craft of jewelry making so great.. How boring would it be if we all did the same type of thing all the time??
I will not let a negative comment/ different point of view get me down as she has the right to her opinion. Sometimes it’s just polite to keep those differing opinions to yourself though.
Though FYI the beads were not supposed to “Match” I think that they go together well though.. I do matchy matchy” sometimes but not always sometimes you just have to let the inspiration be your guide..

I LOVE though how supportive everyone is about this and sorry that you guys got stressed out about it.. Just Breathe!

I was totally shocked when I read that negative comment. I read it twice just to make sure I had read it correctly. There are so many other ways to offer constructive criticism that doing so in such a heavy handed manner is inexcusable. Frankly if I see a piece of work I don’t particularly care for and am required to comment on it I look for what is good not what is bad. I taught painting classes for many years, mostly to children between the ages of 7 to 12 years, and I would NEVER say ” I don’t Like…..” It is not only hurtful it is harmful.

Inspired2create…Just think of that comment as sour grapes…very sour grapes. Put it behind you and “do your thing!” Power to the Chicks!

I haven’t read all the replies that it generated, but would like to add that there are people out there that are called “trolls” on the internet. They find a site and post inflammatory comments to see the reaction they get. Judging from the lack of a reply, or supporting argument for their position, this may be just such a “person”. If so, it’s like a crank call – I would just ignore it & deny them their jollies.

Inspired2Create, I’d like to add my support to the rest! I have not commented on very many of the fabulous designs featured here in the Gallery, mostly from lack of time. BUT, I love the bracelet & the concept behind it! I have many “one of a kind” stones from the beads I have, that are just too pretty to let go. I have created a couple “mismatched” pieces that are fun to wear – and go with anything – and would like to make more!

Keep it up, and do not let the trolls get you down!

Inspired2Create, one bit of advice that I learned the hard way…

I had a bracelet that probably would have broken because I didn’t have enough play between my beads. It was one that had smaller, but flat-ended stones & spacers strung together, without any rounds or saucers to let it flex. I un-strung it because it had really stretched the 49 strand cord I use, and found that all the “joints” where it WAS able to bend were extremely worn! I have since been very careful to have places where the wire can bend in more of a “u” shape than a sharp angle. I’m thinking a small round bead or saucer might help this be more durable – especially if you wear it often. Or if you don’t like that look, just be sure to check it fairly often for signs of wear. I am so hurt for you, Inspired2Create – my heart just sank when I read the unkind words directed at you, and HERE of all places! Couldn’t help but think of all the beaders who might have hesitated to present their creations for fear of disapproval and then someone actually says something so out of line and mean-spirited! I hope the support shown for you and your soooo pretty bracelet proves that we ARE a tight community of beaders, artists and friends who have eachother’s backs – ALWAYS!!!!
There are no hard and fast rules to beading! Do what makes your own eyes happy – like everyone has said so eloquently! I like to call all my multi-color/stone bracelets ‘treasure bracelets’ – that’s what they are to me…and that’s what yours is ,too! Keep up the good work and keep sharing – we need eachother’s inspiration and support!! BTW: I like Inspiration or Inspired Chick!!

I had the same problem with a turquoise nugget necklace. Luckily it snapped before it sold. I’m going to restring it with 19 strand wire and put little spacers between the nuggets.

I came across this the other night while travelling and am just getting around to adding my 2 cents in. I just have to say that I am so proud to be part of such a wonderful, supportive group. We are always there for each other, whether it is with private messages or this public forum.

I love the bracelet, especially because the each bead has a special meaning for inspiredtocreate.
