About this design:
Nevada 'Wild Burro' Jasper is a gorgeous blend of pinks (mauve through salmon), grey and creamy white. The vendor who supplies most of my known provenance western US turquoise recently started carrying this stone unearthed at one of his Nevada claims. I couldn't resist it and picked up several different shapes.
I wish I'd picked up more than one strand of the graduated rondelles. That necklace never saw a show. A friend saw my tray full of new work being photographed and bought this WBJ variation before I'd even finished entering it into my spreadsheet.
Components:
Wild Burro Jasper--graduated rondelles, SW-style barrels/rondelles, or center-drilled squares; sterling silver spacers, beads, clasps; seed bead custom mix to "paint" the stone's varied colors and pattern.Read the comments (or add your own)

Science Chick Runs Sibes says:Deb–Wild Burro is a bit expensive but no where near what the better known Western US jaspers and agates go for–like Oregon Biggs J. or Washington Ellensburg Blue agate. It’s possible that the miner will discover how populate WBJ is and prices will go up.
Julia–yes, I was attracted to WBJ because it screamed femininity for designs. So many jaspers have color tones that go more with the business suit than the party dress.
Caryn, Ravin and Bead-itudes–thanks for the compliments on the designs and Mom-Nature thanks you for the compliments on her work.

Eeka Mouse says:Lovely! (However, I am was wondering what the miner was smoking to name this ‘mauve to salmon’ stone after burros… he was seeing pink burros?!?! but when I googled, I found out that there is a Wild Burro Mtn Range, w/ similar colors, see picture: wild burros in Wild Burro Range.)

On Sep 08, 2010 at 12:39 pm #
Science Chick Runs Sibes says:Pretty fun googling–when you search for the phrase by putting quotes around the three words, there are only two entries returned. This page is one. Thanks for the tip, Eeka M.
AND…thanks to all for the compliments. I too hope LB can get some of this stone in beads. Mother Nature sure did a great job making this one.
