About this design:
I croched this necklace using the chain stitch only and using various sized beads to see what woul happen. I am debating which pendant to use. Martha is voting for the mernaid but I think peacock blue and abalone would be better.
Thought anyone?

sunny chick says:Dawn, this is exquisite!
Either pendant will look gorgeous! I really love the color and texture of this design. I can’t wait to see the final piece!

Deb D Grammy Chick says:Wow, Dawn! Repeat, Wow, Dawn! This is absolutely, positively, magnificent! The colors are gorgeous, and I agree that either pendant will look wonderful, but I think I tend to favor the mermaid simply because the whole piece reminds me of the ocean, and she just seems to “fit”! She also brings out the bronzy tones in some of the other components. Either way, I eagerly await the final product!

K H says:Glad to see that someone else has taken up wire crochet!!!! Are you planning to make a long single strand necklace or a shorter double or triple strand necklace? Either pendant would look good – the mermade would make it more “aquatic”, but the colors would also look “meadowish” (is that a real word?) if you used the tree pendant. And if you really can’t decide, maybe you could use enhancer bails and make it intercangeble.

Canadian chicky karen says:This is stunning!!! My vote goes for the tree, of course I’m partial to blues either way it will be gorgeous!!!

Lucky Ladybug Jewelry-cj says:Dawn, this necklace is lovely! Either pendant would certainly work for all the reasons listed above. It really looks wonderful without a pendant. Question? Is the wire crochet strong enough to handle the pendant without stretching too much?
Anyway – great job.

jewel in NP says:Its beautiful you did a stunning job I like them both but I agree with KH try intercangable if u dont like then decide on one.

Daisy Chick - Dawn says:Thank-you ladies for your input here! I like both pendants and I think either would work. Part of me is leaning heavily toward the mermaid. I plan on a double strand necklace. It will be around 22 to 24 inches completed without a pendant. It is 28 gauge artistic wire and that is my concern also will the 28 gauge hold up to the weight of the mermaid. The tree will be okay but Miss Mermaid took 30 grams of PMC to make. I suppose I could take it apart and use a heavier gauge but I really like this turned out and with wire crochet you don’t really know how it will turn out til you start making it. I guess I could also think about the enhancer so it doesn’t lock me in. More to come on this saga!

Deb D Grammy Chick says:Aha…another continuing saga…can’t wait for the next installment! LOL

grama rose aka stormy says:Omg this is beautiful! I love both pendants I have the mermaid one but no hole I was trying to hammer a hole in it the other day with no Luck!!! Can’t wait to see your finished piece it looks stunning!!!

amkcreations aka Amanda says:This is stunning! I want to see the finished one. Both Pendants are very pretty.

Jewelry by Shannon says:Both pendants are so pretty and your crochet work is so nice!!
I think 28 gauge is pretty fine so hmmmm, you may need to hold each one in your hand and see how heavy they are, or try making a small temporary wire loop and rest the necklace on a jewelry bust to see how much it might be pulling as you attach each one temporarily. Can’t wait to see the finished piece!! SLS.

Eeka Mouse says:The ‘chain’ looks great. I’d go for the tree pendant with this one, and put he mermaid w/iridescent dark bronze (pearls?), purple and pink, maybe… or even dk bronze and red… mermaids like a change of pace sometimes…
On Oct 05, 2010 at 7:48 pm #
Daisy Chick - Dawn says:Thank-you Amanda! Shannon I appreciate your suggestion and I will try that! Eeka you are so right mermaids do enjoy other colors, which may very well happen if this pendant doesn’t work out! I can always crochet another necklace in a heavier gauge if these pendants don’t work out! I do like the windswept look of the tree!

Dora H says:great creation…I like the blueish pendant with it the best
On Oct 06, 2010 at 8:17 am #
Mommykat Bubbly Chick says:Dawn, I can see either one on this necklace, maybe you should make two. LOL, either way this will be gorgeous!

Daisy Chick - Dawn says:Thank-you Lorrie and Dora! Yes Lorrrie I can see me making another necklace soon! I still have to find a clasp for the piece too!

Dragons Chicky says:I’m so jealous cause i can’t crotchet, I can’t even spell it! I adore the necklace! So pretty any way you do it!

Daisy Chick - Dawn says:Thank-you Dragons! I just taught Martha how to do this! Her piece turned out fabulous! I also taught my daughter how to crochet with yarn. It really helped her with the class when she took it! Then she came home and taught me!

Gemme Designs says:Very nice work!! I agree with Martha; I like the mermaid, it brings out the color of the small golden pearls
On Oct 06, 2010 at 10:16 pm #
Daisy Chick - Dawn says:Thank-you Johanne! I am leaning toward the Mermaid too if she is not too heavy!
On Oct 08, 2010 at 3:12 pm #
Deborah C Dallas says:Mermaid–it stands out. The tree is going to get “lost”.
On Oct 08, 2010 at 3:23 pm #
Deb D Grammy Chick says:I hope the mermaid isn’t too heavy, but if so, you’ll just have to create a new necklace for her! Hey, Martha, how about posting your creation…I’d love to see it!
On Oct 16, 2010 at 3:05 pm #
Jewelologie - Jackie says:Both pendants would be great, but I am liking the larger mermaid pendant.
