The Dud says:Thanks, everyone. These are necklaces that I am making for my first show in December. The beads are easy to make, but very time consuming.
Amanda for the Origami beads, I cit 1″ wide by 24″ long gold wrapping paper and roll it into a barrel. Then, I take my Origami paper and cut it to fit the barrel and glue it on. I then put a sealant on it, varnish it and then glue the bead caps to the barrels for a more finished look. The pictures I posted here were before I had glued the bead caps on and finished off the necklace.
Here is a picture of some Japanese Washi paper that I just bought for my next project!

amkcreations aka Amanda says:Wow, the paper you have for the next project is pretty too. Thank you for the instructions. I wish I could have you sit and teach me how to do this (I learn so much better hands on, must be the teacher part of my personality). I am going to buy ModPodge tomorrow and prepare to try this.
By the way, do you sell your beads?
On Oct 23, 2010 at 9:57 pm #
Jade aka Caryn says:WOW..yeah you could definitely make a ton of money selling the beads. They are awesome! I am sure they take forever to make. Do you find the paper then look for beads to match or the other way around. They remind me of those projects we used to make when we were little. We would wrap the magazine paper around a pencil and then put the tubes on a soup can…remember?? didn’t we all make one of those for our parents when we were little?
