Land of the Midnight Sun

About this design:

This piece was inspired by a beautiful 'paisley' large vermeil chain as well as the large toggle clasp, which is positioned in the front. Labradorite with yellow flashes became the stone of choice (so pretty with the vermeil!), as well as multi-colored stick pearls in a dark hue and a few white pearls.

New technique on this piece became a way to hang those wavy vermeil disks in all sizes from a headpin with a 1 mm ball on the end. They look so neat and dangle from the end of the headpin so nicely!

Middle picture shown in natural light so you can see the true colors of the stones. It's a long piece to wear so I didn't show it on a jewelry bust!

Thanks you guys for checking this one out.

Forgot to mention that this clasp didn’t have the hole at the bottom originally. I thought it just needed a long dangle from the bottom of the toggle. SO, guess what?! I pulled out a new tool that I’d gotten some time ago to punch tiny holes in metal and it was super easy. Not sure what I was waiting for.

Glad it turned out good because that was an expensive clasp to make that my ‘first try’ with that tool! Now I’m thinking of all kinds of things I want to use that punch for! LOL. SLS

ditto BEAUTIFUL! Gotta get me a punch…today I used a corn cob holder and a hammer and block…well …when it needs a hole…you just wing it!

Fantastic, Shannon! Lovely components and great design! :D I think I’ll have to get one of those punches…I’d probably smash some fingers trying to use Sali Jo’s corn cob holder/hammer method! LOL!

The punch pliers are available in a lot of places. I ended up ordering mine online from one of the Big Box locations as my LBS didn’t have them.

If you haven’t seen them in local stores near you maybe you can use one of your Bead Trend certificates to buy a pair, Deb? Ice pick and hammer is almost as scary as a corn cob holder, and way to easy to hurt yourself! That punch is soooo easy. It will only punch light gauge metal items.

BTW, I’m getting so into punching holes, watch out, I ordered a heavier duty screw down hole punch to make holes in thicker metal items. My mind is reeling with items that need that extra hole in them to finish the item! :-) SLS
