Morning Glory

About this design:

This fresh combination of an opaque with a transparent bead makes a soft feminine statement in these beautiful colors. Deceptively simple, it took me days to finally recognize that these stones would enhance one another. I wear it and love it because it enhances my eye color and has sparkle which dresses up simple tops. Wool sweaters, knits, or blouses in light blues or greens go well with this piece, and it can also be attractive with prints. Sunshine becomes it, so it is one of my daytime choices.

Components:

Aquamarine, faceted green quartz, silver plated spacers.

Thank you for your comments. I think Monet’s colors are quite similar. Could have called this “Iris” as well. I think it would be fun to do a whole flower series, don’t you? The flowers could be by season or climate, depending on where you live. ( I think I am reverting into my “art teacher” mode; I used to always be looking for new project ideas.) I wonder if identifying with flowers is like identifying with your pets. People seem to pick pets like themselves. Flowers are combinations in color and other design elements. If given a choice, I would be a calla lily; so tall, graceful, serene and elegant, storing water for visiting bees and hummingbirds. Actually, I am probably a California poppy. What flower are YOU?

Claire, this necklace is beautiful — love the colors! Monet’s Water Lilies is one of my fave paintings. :D

Very pretty! I have been hoarding some aquamarine gemstone rounds for a year now, because I can’t decide what to pair them with… it’s for me, because I have never had real gem birthstone jewelry.

MoonBell, You understand the challenge of showing the subtle color of the stones to best advantage. Looks like you have a couple of much more valuable “gems” at home in the adorable faces displayed! They are probably one reason you have been waiting a year. How you concentrate on designing jewelry at all is amazing. However, your two children are superb critics. They might even have some original ideas. Never underestimate the creativity of a child.
