About this design:
Oxidised Copper ~ I love it as much as Silver now!
It's the 1st time I've made the figure of 8 spiral link & it could also be used lengthways with a long teardrop bead. I haven't got any long teardrops but what a good excuse to order some!
I love the colours of the Rhyolite combined with the Copper. I am actually wearing these earrings as I write this!
Components:
20g Copper wire, Rhyolite Drops, Liver of Sulphur to oxidise CopperRead the comments (or add your own)

Lynn Eileen Chicky LE says:Yes, and then they want to come and visit me!!! LOL
Spiral Chick, these are amazing! I see what you mean about the figure 8 — when I look at it sideways I can imagine it as a fabulous pendant! Love the Rhyolite and copper combo — very pretty!
Oh, and it’s always good to have an excuse to order more beads, isn’t it?

Leigh D says:These are amazing – I love them. The rhyolite looks awesome with copper – I will have to try this combo – it is one that I have not yet done! And as always I love your wireworked spirals

Wemai Coffee Chick says:Your wirework is stunning, Spiral Chick! I especially like the way you’ve wrapped the Rhyolite! It’s an amazing stone!

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:You never cease to amaze me with your wirework Sparkle Chick!! These are beautiful
I REALLY, REALLY want to learn how to do this type of work. You are an inspiration to me and By Golly!!! I intend to do what I can to learn how to do it!!! I’ll probably ruin tons of wire but Oh well…..
Sure would help if there were classes around here….but determination will help me figure it out!!

Sweet Chick I’d love to go to a wirework class but there is nothing in my area at all. I’ve taught myself by trial & error, wirework books (several!) & I have a couple of DVDs by Sharilyn Miller, plus lots of practising!
Step By Step Wire Jewelry magazine is good too. I have to get it on subscription as I can’t find it over here (UK)

Mary S - Sweet Chick says:Thank you so much Spiral Chick! That’s even more encouraging! If you learned on your own, that gives me confidence I can learn it too!!
If you have preferences for the best wirework books please let us know what your favorites are. I’m sure there are many good books out there but it always helps to hear reviews! I will certainly check out Step By Step Wire Jewelry magazine too!
Thanks again!!

Starsparkle Spiral Chick says:Sweet Chick ~ I think the best books are Bead On A Wire by Sharilynn Miller & All Wired Up by Mark Lareau. They both have step by step photos or drawings on how to make spirals, wrapped loops, caged beads etc.
Connie Fox is another wirework artist who’s stuff is fab. Her website jatayu.com has some good tutorials you can download. Hope this helps

Carola says:Just attended a wire wrap class….so, really like your design. And rhyolite is one of my favorite stones. Must try the copper wire.
On Aug 12, 2009 at 11:15 pm #
Regina v says:I like these too. There pretty, but a little bit humorous too – like rhyolite just got itself a really fancy new hat and hairstyle, and now rhyolite is out promenading around town showing off its bling. Maybe time for me to turn in for the night?
