Furry melodia

About this design:

This cuff is made from vinyl record and muskrats' fur.
Vinyl is from '70 and muskrats fur from '50.
I do not like that animals are bred just for the furs. At the same time, I do like leather and furs. Complicated! However, I thought that I can use fur from a hat, which is originally made on 1950. It was not wore and in an excellent condition!

Nice use of vintage materials !!!

    Jewelry by Shannon says:

Ok, this is cute! Glad to see you found a way to recycle this fur without endangering animals.
    :-)

I always wondered what muskrat fur looked like — looks very soft! Do you all remember that song from Tony and Tennille called “Muskrat Love”!? Some of us remember I’m sure!! SLS

Also VERY cool in a “warm an fuzzy” sort of way! ;-) How do you get those old records to hold that curved shape?

Shannon, I remember that old song!! :-D

  4. Lynn g
    Lynn g says:

Oh this is cool!!! and I have a lot of those records yet, and I still listen to them.. And Shannon I remember that song, that is funny how you thought that. We must grew up around the same time..

  5. Arja A
    Arja A says:

    Playing with LP and scissors:
Warm your vinyl (with boiling water , hair dryer etc). When vinyl is soft, cut ( be fast, vinyl will broke if it is too cool.).
Warm again and bend. It will keep its curves when cooled.
You can warm and bend it as many times as you want!

  6. Little Round Chick
    Little Round Chick says:

This is really cool. My Mother had a coat trimmed with muskrat and I loved the feel of the fur. This was back in the early ’50s.

  7. Eeka Mouse
    Eeka Mouse says:

There is marshy ground near here, and sometimes I see roadkill muskrats. Too bad I can’t send the fur to Arja for a reincarnation!
