“Calico Cats”

Description from Poms Forever aka Donna: I have two dogs that I know would not like a cat addition to our family, But, I would love to have a Calico Cat. Love their uniqueness, Question -Are Calicos all girls? Thought I read that somewhere.

This is a fantastic pick for a Calico Cat! I love the PH cats. The colors are perfect for a Calico Cat. I’ve only known of 1 Calico cat anywhere around wherever I’ve lived. It was a female. Every time I turn around the poor thing is pregnant again.

Almost all calico cats are indeed female, and in the rare cases where a calico cat is a male it is highly likly to be born sterile. This usually happens because the cat has an extra chromosome. So, instead of him being XY, he is XXY. These cats are known as Kleinfelter males. Approximately 1-3,000 calico’s are male & out of those only 1-10,000 are fertile.

I have a muted calico. Calicos are stupid! But your pick is beautiful!

Thanks for all the info! I can tell we have cat people.
Creel – LOL you made me chuckle!
I pulled the picks and they are all gemstones. I am stone hound.

I also love the Patricia Healey Cats. They have character and make me smile!

This is a beautiful pick, especially with the PH cats. The stones are beautiful and appropriate for calico colors. I had a calico. She had about average smarts, but she was exceptionally sweet. Love your pick!

I’m not really a cat lover (I’m allergic to them) but I LOVE your pick!

There are also different types of calicos, the ones that have patches of orange and black in solid patches, vs those whose three colors are intermingled (much like you would mix together), the later is named tortoiseshell, and most of my kitties have been some kind of calico, all female cats, this is a beautiful Pick for them, ditto about the PH cat pieces, she sure knows how to convey cats – :)
