“Catching Rabbit in my Garden”

Description from puppychick labratbecky: Today before the rain my dog was on the deck barking at something. I looked down to see a rabbit calmly nibbling away at the new growth in one of my flower beds. I have had way too many plants tasted and discarded by the local rabbit population and this bunny knew my dog could not get at him. I grabbed one of my dog's dozens of tennis balls and tried to throw it in the rabbit's direction. It was just a lob but I actually hit the rabbit! He jumped around, very surprised, and took off. From now on I am going to have a few tennis balls handy at the deck door. They land in the plants and stay there so I will be able to collect them every once in awhile and reload the deck. :) EC, I promise not to hurt the bunnies, just teach them that if they eat in my flowers, they might get hit on the behind with a slobbered up ball.

LOL – this is a cool pick – I have the same problem with my tulips, the bunnies eat them before they bloom, or they just chew through the stem of the blooming flower and I find it on the ground :>( I like your solution :>)

Well, that I don’t know…How high can they jump?
A house down the street from us just put up a fence…traditional fence posts, but….the fence is made of poultry wire, and the perimeter planted with jasmine vines. Can you just imagine how beautiful it will be when the jasmine fills it in? I am so jealous I didn’t think of it!

hmmmmm I could see something like that… there is a vining hydrangea I want to buy. maybe that would be the perfect place for it…on a bunny fence. thanks for the idea, Susie-Q!
