“Creative Block”

Description from Deb Harding: Trying to work through a creative block. Czech beads I have, copper elements are approximations of my stash. Just need the multi-strand thingy. Have put bracelet together and taken apart 5 times now. Too dainty..looks like crap...elements don't match in style...bah!!! Not part of blingy challenge.
4 top czech beads are the luster mix that is OOS right now. I only have pink moons :( .

Love ther colors. If I’m reading your descriptions right, it seems like most of your Czech eads are close to the same size. Yep, you have the moons, but they are also on the soft side. If it’s too daity, maybe you need a string of “hard” like chunky, or oval, or square.
Or instead of multi strand all around, do a couple strands on one side and the chunky on the ohter for my fave 1/2&1/2 bracelet.
    Hope that helps. :)

btw: What does OOS mean? I’m an English teacher, so I never learn textmessage abbreviations. :(

That’s a retail term. It means out of stock.
My chunky beads are actually round copper ones. They have a dotted texture that matches my heart toggle. Heart toggle is so tiny though. Yes all czech beads are the same size. I need that multi-strand thing. Going to go get one tomorrow…I think it will solve my problem. I do think I’m going for chunky chain in 1 side beads on other.

    Beautiful soft colors :)

” The problem of always having (a) missing item(s) in ones stach ” I’m so familar with that problem. Julie came with some good ideas. Add some bronzite maybe? I have fallen in love with bronzite. :)

  5. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Bronzite…yes I read somewhere you said it was your new lover! But I don’t have any… anyway. I’m kinda trying to make 2 bracelets to go.with that copper moon/sun necklace I made before. So purples are the color. I only added the pinks because they are in that luster mix.
Its making me.want to throw beads. Aarrrgh!

I have bad manners again. Thank you Julie for the ideas and thank you Frida.

  6. Julie Shane
    Julie Shane says:

So don’t use the pinks in the luster mix… Stay with your purples. Use the purples and creams. You have enough “glow” from the moons to pick up with the purples. Maybe you are trying to use too many colors??? Just because you HAVE them, doesn’t mean you have to USE them! Let your bronze findings become the “pink” tones to match your moons.

The bronzite is awesome. It’s dark and rich. It’s got a touch of swirl, but is still a “background” stone that makes the main pieces really stand out. You can prob find a string of bronzite at your local craft store.

Comment #3: STOP! Walk away! Cover it with a cloth and ignore it for 24 hours. Your brain will still be thinking, but your eyes and emotions will take a break. :)

    Julie Shane says:

Oh! Silly me. Look at Becky’s POD. It’s full of bronzite. With your color scheme a little could go a long way. Great with the chunky chain too.

    Deb Harding says:

LOL I did more than cover it. I have a small divided organizer where I put whatever I’m working on if I’m not leaving it on the board. Shoved it all in there at 10 last night.
I might have just gotten some inspiration from some bracelets I saw on Pinterest though. Of course I have about 4 braceleta in that semi- I don’t like it -finished stage.

Sorry about your creative block, Deb! I’ve had one for months! I can put colors together; I buy beads and then I don’t know what to do with them! I’m hoping my new multi-vitamin will help!LOL
I agree with Julie- put everything away do something else( FUN)! Good luck!

  10. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Yea its aggraviting really. Its not the colors I’m having problems with either. Its the construction. It just looks I
either too small or unfinished or tje copper pieces don’t look good together. So I did laundry instead.
When I’m blocked for ideas I do look on Pinterest, the Vintaj website, google different things like bohemian jewelry, or the actual metal/bead I’m using. I don’t necessarily use any but it can help.yoi see.ways of putting things together you might not have thought of.

I have a sort of a method when it comes to deciding what to use, I put all the beads and components in a small plastic container, I look at them and then take the ones that I’m not happy with out till I’m somewhat happy with the results, sometimes it is a few days before I’m happy. Deb, you are trying to make multi strand, what if you use the moon bead as a connector, I think that the hole in the bead is large enough to run a few beading wires trough it.

  12. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

    That is a possibility…hmmmmm. Thanks. :)

Deb, I am sure you will find a solution to your block.
However, you have created a lovely pick! :)

  14. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

I think I have it figured out. Julie was right in one respect about too many colors. Mostly because they vanished next to the copper…the luster mix is too similiar to copper. So only the two purples are being used. And only the chunky chain.

Thank you…Jolene I think is what I’ve seen is your name.

  15. Julie Shane
    Julie Shane says:

Deb, I’m glad the beads are cooperating with you now.
Sometimes there’s so many bead choices that it actually limits your creative choices. Been there and done that.
Looking forward to seeing your final creation. :)

  16. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Arrrgh still, pretty but still not right.

  17. Julie Shane
    Julie Shane says:

I *LOVE* this!!! I like that you used a tiny lobster to keep it simple. I want to see a close up of your “flowers” please. I can tell they are Vintag connectors, but how did you do that??? I wanna try it!!! :)

  18. Asia
    Asia says:

    Deb, that looks awesome :D

  19. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Julie they are not Vintaj connectors. They are bead cones that I did a lot.of manipulating to. How they are attached is a headpin goes down through the top with a small czech bead. Then I did a small loop on the underside and that slides onto the jump ring between the bead strands. It needs work still. The bead strands are too stiff and long. I bought different stringing wire today. And I think I’m going to move the flowers together or something. I’m not satisfied.

Durn that is not the right photo.

  23. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Well I guess it was the right photo but I have no.idea why it posted the first comment twice. I was also looking for coppee vead caps today. I thought a smaller flower would be cool. No luck. Very few copper findings at all. Cool strings of copper beads one has a couple of spacers could maybe use as a small flower.

    LOL, Deb :D

It looka silly with the 3 photo posts. LOL! oh well. Cant delete comments. Would be nice.

    Flower close-up.

  26. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

    Still not.quite happy.with it.

  27. Julie Shane
    Julie Shane says:

Wow! Thanks for the pics. Seriously.
I like this version, but I think I like the flowers on separate sides of the bracelet. Maybe some TINY spacers between the purples… just to break it up. I like to do 3 beads, spacer, 2 beads, spacer, 3 beads, spacer, etc. So it’s sorta random-ish.

  28. Julie Shane
    Julie Shane says:

Question: Is this for YOU or for someone else? YOU will never be happy with it since it’s caused you such grief. It will always be a sore spot. However, ANYONE and EVERYONE else will *LOVE* it. They won’t know it’s not quite perfect. Because it really IS lovely. And unique. And !!purple!! :)

  29. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Its for me. The reason it doesn’t make me happy is the flowers seem to big next to.the purple beads. Think I’m going to add another strand or 2 there and mix in a another color and some random copper beads. Not many. Plus the section with the flowers needs work…too much air…empty space.
