    Mary - Sweet Chick says:

Aw Liz, I’ll say a prayer for you. Hope your spirits rise very soon.
And this pick…there is beauty in the darkness.

Liz, what a beautiful pick! Remember it just takes some of us a little longer to come out of the darkness of winter.

Weather-wise, your pick describes our May here. Some folks getting snow, gardens showing winter-killed perennials like ours :(
But, signs of hope and renewal are all around – even in your pick. There is a wonderful song by Karen Allison – “You Can’t Rush Spring.”
“…there’ll be a morning when the frost will end, and your broken heart wlll mend.” The sun and God’s love is always there even when it’s hidden by clouds.

Much, much better now! Mary, thank you for the prayer! Pam & Kathryn, thanks for your kind, supportive words & sentiments! It has meant more than you know in the dark times to hear that caring is out there, God is still there, assurance that the darkness will pass in its time & it’s worth riding it out. That there is always hope. The hopelessness is the worst deception of depression. The feeling of worthlessness & being a burden is another.

There’s a very good reason that the Catholic church condemns despair as a mortal sin. It’s harder to overcome than almost anything else on earth. It takes the kind of effort from the will that makes a woman’s muscles able to lift a car off a loved one. The will can demolish fear, pain, even sorrow – but it takes all you’ve got.
My favorite prayer is “Lord, I believe; help Thou mine unbelief!” (Mark 9, I think) And my favorite quote is “I believe because it is impossible” attributed by some to Descartes,
on the theory that because no human mind could imagine it, it therefore must be the work of God.
    Work at it.
