I have to add my 2 cents worth here: John Denver wrote the song after he had a MN tour back when he wasn’t very famous yet and he was still doing concerts at small colleges. He was in my home town singing at Martin Luther College. Then he did a concert in St. Peter, MN where he met a Gustavus Adolphus College student named Annie Martell who eventually became his first wife and the inspirations for many of his songs. He wrote “Leavin’ on a Jet Plane” when he had to leave St. Peter and leave Annie behind at school. I went to that same college a few years later and I was a year behind Annie’s brother Ben. So that’s the rest of the story! :) and you have the makings of a cool piece of jewelry here!
