“Make it Stop!!!”

Description from Mary - Sweet Chick: Cold sores! Yuk! Sorry to gross you out chickies, but I've been battling one that just won't go away. Does anyone have any sure fire way of getting rid of them? I'm taking lots of lysine, eating lysine rich/arginine poor foods, using tea tree oil, and lysine rich lip creams on the blister. It goes away & then comes right back! It just feels like everyone is staring at that big ugly thing.......sigh. There could be worse things.....I know.

Mary, I can’t believe such a beautiful pick was inspired by something so awful! I love this combo of colors and textures. It’s a fav for me (even though it has one of those freaky eyes). :D

I can’t believe this pick was inspired by such a nasty thing. I love all the colors you chose to go with that eye, Mary! Gorgeous! As for the cold sore, I’ve use the stuff they advertise on TV(can’t remember the name of it, sorry) It doesn’t make them disappear right away, but in two to three days they are gone for me.

Ok, I’m ditto-ing all the above. Never had a cold sore myself, but loving this pick’s colors!

gorgeous pick (altho I just can’t get into that “eye”) Having suffered from cold sores for years- the only thing that worked for me were the prescription anti-virals. For the ones that kept coming back, I also learned I had gotten an infection that needed antibiotic treatment (before the days of the anti-virals) might be worth having it looked at. Good luck and be glad it didn’t dampen your creativity!

Love your pick – would never think it was inspired by a cold sore. Over the counter Campho-phenique helps them go away quicker. You should be able to get this at most drug stores. Hope it helps you!

Cold sores are part of the entire herpes simplex virus mess. I suggest you contact your local G.P. for some advice. You may require some meds to combat it, although the usual life span of a cold sore is about 2 weeks. Good luck!

You might try the pickling ‘spice’, Alum, on your cold sore. It’s a powder, so what I’ve done is to make a ‘paste’ out of it and spread some of it over the sore. It helps to dry it out somewhat. Not a cure-all by any means, but coupled with Carmex, it helps to shorten the duration (in my experience).
Alum is a bitter tasting compound which can be used as a deterrent for pets who have a bandage on their leg, or in another place where they can bother the bandage. It’s an alternative to “Bitter Apple”, sold over the counter for the same use.

Mary, this pick is so pretty! Can’t believe a cold sore inspired it! LOL
I”ve suffered from cold sores over the years and the best remedy ( after applying most the ointments mentioned above) is time. Hope you’re in the clear soon;)
