“Malachite for Christmas”

Description from EPBCornell: Thought I'd try a challenge designing a Christmas pick with malachite. I struggle to find things to mix with malachite-- it's that rare high-end beauty without flashiness. Sort of a casual elegance. I don't want to waste its worth, losing its banded tonal variations in the design such that a cheaper green substitute would do, like verdite. Larimar has that same high-end casual elegance and its own tonal variations, so I thought I'd try it. Red for that Christmas vibe. Then made it a party with the flashy daggers and touches of silver. I suspect I've cheapened the malachite in the end. C'est la vie.

I know what you mean about Malachite…I struggle to use it for the same reasons. But I think you might have hit on something here. The tomato-y red and touch of larimar blue seem to bring a nostalgic Christmas time look to the mix. I like it.
Keep the therapeutic creativity coming, girl!

I like how the Czech Multicolor Daggers tie the greens blues and reds together with holiday sparkle. I have that Malachite Oval Pendant and can’t decide how to use it. Your keeping with silver accents is a great idea for again tying the colors together.

The reddish carnelian, larimar, malachite and silver are wonderful together. Personally I would use malachite with some silver spacers to let the malachite shine o its own.

If the dark carnelian is really that red then I think it would look classy and Christmassy as a smaller spacer with the malachite. With the pendant in the center and some of the stars flanking it I think it is good to go. Or the garnet would be my second choice, but I find the larimar not deep enough to go with the malachite. I would like the glass beads to stick together, with the silver rounds as a good basic foundation. Lots to think about in this pick! Now I’m thinking the garnet might be good with the carnelian stars.
