“Meditation Garden”

Description from EPBCornell: Some crazy ideas for the construction of a project here: Pendant and beads would be strung either on beading wire/cable or possibly german wire or craft wire drawn to stiffen if I decided I didn't want the pendant drooping too much in the middle. Here come the crazy ideas. The bead-strung wires would end going through the patina brass wavy hammered square beads, tightly looped & crimped or knotted if cable, looped, coiled or hammered or a combination if german/craft wire at the dead end to lock it. I will have drilled 4 holes and filed the edges smooth along the top edges of both ending patina brass square beads to pull through ~2' lengths of the natural edge silk ribbon halfway, 2 of each color in each side, and flat weave/braid the resulting 8 strands from each bead to the desired length then stitch the ends together on each side & trim to take up a minimum volume/thickness, such that each end may be stuffed into a patina brass basket slide. Then I would need to find a pair of small, powerful neodymium magnets to fit inside the basket slides, a thin silicone sheet to mask between the magnets & slides while I epoxy the magnets paired up in their happy connection in place inside the brass basket slides (silicone sheet between), with the silk ends lined up & stuffed in the other ends. I might have to do the epoxy gluing in 2 steps, finding something else to temporarily stuff the voids for the silk while fixing in the magnets, even if it's just tissue paper. Thing is, I have a drill, a Dremel, a clamp, small metal-drilling bits and metal punches, epoxy, a thin silicone sheet, a few sizes of neodymium magnets (not sure any fit the basket slide, which I could grind out a little bigger on the inside with the Dremel if I needed to), plenty of tissue paper. Not sure I'll ever get around to trying this, though...
