“More Gun Violence”

Description from Granny Nancy: My little town of Pineville is next door to Charlotte, NC where there are murders almost every day. Yesterday, a person who had to have been mentally ill killed two people at our local university. He seriously injured 3 more, and another victim is in stable condition. This latest shooting really hit me since it was the last day of classes for students.

The shooter used a pistol and when he saw the TV cameras, he was looking right at them and smiling. I used orange so much for this pick because it is a color used for gun awareness and green is the color for mental illness awareness. I'm so sad for the families of these victims and sad for our country where gun violence is so prevalent.

Those of us who want to see more control and get rid of automatic weapons are not interested in taking away guns from true sportsmen, etc. But obviously with all the murders something must be done.

Thank you Nancy. You said it perfectly. The pick is a wonderful way to take a stand & voice concern over the rising incidents of violence everywhere.

Thank you Nancy for your awareness pick. I put it it into my faves. Before I retired, our college has, for the past 4 years, staged bi-annual “lockdown drills” for “on sight shooters.” Even though they were fake, I and many students and coworkers were traumatized! Sorry folks – “thoughts and prayers” are not enough. Those struggling with mental illness- ESPECIALLY PTSD veterans – must get the help they need! We must work *together* and put aside religious and political prejudice to solve this National Crisis!

I wanted to add to this that the pistol used was a semiautomatic (the type I feel should be outlawed). Also, one of the students killed actually tried to jump on and stop the killer but obviously was unsuccessful. So Sad!
