Place a Transfer Image onto a Channel Bead

About this Tip:

Looking for ideas on how to use Nunn Design's Channel Beads and Pendants? Applying a transfer image to them is a great place to start!

Components:

The products featured in this tip are listed below.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:
Trim out the image from the Channel bead Transfer Sheet that fits your bead of choice.
Step 2:
Drop the image into a small bowl of room temperature water. Let soak for about a minute. The film-like image will gradually release from the paper backing.
  Step 3:
Remove the image from the bowl of water and test to see if the film-like image has released by sliding the image back and forth between your fingertips. If the image is still firmly adhered to the paper backing, return it to the bowl for an additional 30 seconds. If it has released, place the transfer sheet face down onto a paper towel, taking care to keep the paper backing in place. Gently dab away any excess water.
Step 4:
Slide the film-like image away from the paper backing. Attach the base of the transfer image first. Pressing firmly, gently start to wrap the transfer sheet around the bead core. You will have approximately 1/8" of overlap as you complete your transfer sheet wrap. Burnish thoroughly, pushing any excess air out to the edges.
Step 5:
Paint a thin coat of sealant over the top of the image.

This looks like a lot of work, but beautiful results.

That’s what I thought at first too, but believe it or not, using the transfers is really quick. The number of steps photographed above go by before you know it. :-)

Nice technique- but I feel like I’m drifting away from beading and into another craft. I prefer beading with interesting gemstone beads
