“Pray For My Baby!”

Description from Deb Harding: The kitty cold.has run rampant through my house. Everyone has been sick. Mousey and Muffin got better without medication. But Precious and her babies and pregnant Binky were hit pretty hard. They all had a vet visit, clavamox was prescribed for all my cats and they are doing better. All except for 1 baby. The last 4 days have been a battle...he is fighting but he's so tired. I have to take him from Precious and put him on a heating pad to keep him warm. I have to feed him with an eyedropper because he wont eat. But let him fall asleep and that sucking reflex kicks in. His nose is so stopped up and I discovered if I prop his mouth open with the eyedropper he breaths much easier. Maybe I should give up....but I cant. I lost 4 kittens last year, only Mousey was saved. So I'm not giving up. I want him to live and grow and play. So Julie I'm sorry if he makes it I wont be able to give him up. But...Binky had her 2 babies yesterday. So maybe you will get your little sisters yet.

As Frida says “now I starts crying”. Such tiny defenceless creatures who struggle and struggle and sometimes just fade away. Several tough animal issues this winter and not one is easy. You are in my thoughts. Please keep us posted – we await good news. xo

  5. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

No Frida…I don’t expect that. My Mom helps me when I need it and everyone here has already been so generous. I sent you a private email earlier anyway which explains things.
Honey I’ve been crying on and off all weekend. Poor baby fights me so he’s not down yet. I have him wrapped in a cocoon right now. He keeps wanting to get away and go off by himself and get cold.

Just keep your fingers crossed and pray for him. He seems breathing easier now. He’s just lost so much of his butterball look. I feed him kitty formula with a little added sugar (tiny amount) in an eyedropper every chance I get. The other baby is fine which is strange because it seemed more stuffed up the day of the vet visit.

C’mon little guy, fight that infection! You can do it! Sweet kitty-baby….

  12. Eeka Mouse

  14. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

I think I’ve resigned myself that despite my efforts the baby is not going to make it. He fights my efforts to feed him, he fights to get away from me. He will not nurse from mom. I’m at a loss. He’s so cold I’ve placed him bsck in the basket with the heating pad. He’s so so so tired.

  15. Asia
    Asia says:

Deb, mix a little bit of water with the salt and drop it in his nose, that will trigger sneezing and you want this so he can get rid of the discharge and start breathing, do that a few times a day, if he is not breathing properly he will be more tired just like us humans, hang in there!!!

  16. Frida
    Frida says:

    Yes keep fighting!

  21. Frida
    Frida says:

Don’t know if there are a nosespray that can be used on cats in this situation, infant drops maybe. Have to ask a vet about that or if they know in drugstore… But there should be a way to rinse his nose. The thing is I read now is that a cat that don’t smell doesn’t get that hugry.

Precious did not let him wander to a corner of the box alone. He was under her this morning at 5 when I went to check. He was where he wanted to be, with his mama….he was not alone.

BTW, is a wonderfully comforting & compassionate site for anyone who has had a pet cross over. “The Rainbow Bridge Poem” is so very moving — only read it when you want to cry a lot. You ladies, chickies here at LB are just so awesome and have really helped me a lot and not just through this. I don’t know what I would do.without you all. Point in fact: I told my 3 so-called gfs about this on Sunday and Monday. Not 1 has even asked me the outcome or even really contacted me at all since then. Except for 1 accidently butt dialing me 2 times the next day, then doesn’t talk to me, and doesn’t even apologize for it. Nor ask why I say I’m napping and don’t feel good. I need new friends. I need to move away from here. Sorry… whining.

    Deb Harding says:

Its been 5 days now and still all you wonderful friends here on LB are offering me condolences, sympathy, hugs, kind words…. I’ve said it since about 2 days after I found LB and I will say it again. The link on Pinterest that led me here was one of the best things that’s happened to me lately. You are the best; encouraging, supportive, funny, understanding. I really love you all.

5 days and none of my “friends” have yet to even contact me. Its not because they are not animal lovers and don’t understand. Its because they are too “busy”.
