“Ruins at Tulum”

Description from Smoky Rose: Maya Ruins at Tulum stand on a bluff facing the rising sun looking out to the Caribbean.
Earliest date of the site is 564 AD - it's heyday was 1200-1521 AD.

I'm not 100% sure the rainbow obsidian fits here - but how can you talk about Maya and not talk about obsidian? was one of their favorite tools....yikes!

    OOOO! Mary! I love this!
We were so close to Tulum several years ago on a cruise but we chose horse backriding that day instead because the excursion to Tulum was going to be such a LONG day. Wish now we’d have gone.
My hubby says it’s time for another cruise, so maybe we’ll work it in this time.

    Thanks girls!
Love this stuff, I eat it up. I like to try to be quiet (ok, this is really gonna sound super weird, particularily after yesterday…I’m odd…so be it!), I like to get quiet, try hard to focus, and see if I can ‘feel’ anything. If I can feel any of the emotions, the energy that occurred there. Not that I’m psychic or anything – but a bunch of years ago down in Fredericksburg VA – at a civil war site, I felt something odd – almost like when your blood sugar plummets… (it could very well have been that my blood sugar was plummeting…) I didn’t feel anything at Tulum, but super intersting all the same.

Mary – I hear ya. The trip to Chitzen Itza was awfully long – it was hours from where we were staying. Worthwile though, if you get the opportunity again!
I’d also like to go to Belize – which is English speaking and/or Honduras, to see ruins there.

OMG are those perfect pictures or what?! The China Silverleaf was a perfect choice I think, as well as the aquamarine for those gorgeous waters…and you’re right, obsidian is an absolute must when you’re talking about Mayans! They not only used them as weapons (knives) but as mirrors as well. How cool is that?!

did not know that about the mirrors – cool, thanks!
