“Rustic Romance”

Description from Jogi: I have found that I love the glass beads from Africa. There is such an aspect of texture and color that sets many of them apart from just glass beads. I love to see them at shows and feel the weight and roughness that remind one of the primitive artistry of history. Pairing them with the brass and bronze pieces just expands the history! I know, most of these are reproductions, so what? Having said all of that, I did this pick to try to put ideas into people's heads of how you can use these beads. The components are similar to the ones I used in my design, Happy Feet.

Jogi, love your pick. I have used several of the basket beads-they look great in earthy style pieces. I have used other types of glass beads but not these -definitely will go with some of my pieces.

Thanks Robin. I have used the brass ones, too but have also seen how some people have enameled those. Life is too short to miss out on the total experience! But maybe I will wait to learn about enameling. I did it in high school but that was a looooonnnnngggg time ago. I need to just use what I have and see where it goes.

I agree Jogi- I would love to learn enameling. I love trying new things. I wonder how patina would look on the brass pieces? Let us see if you experiment.

Love your combo of glass and brass. They. have such a marvelous rustic quality that works with big bold designs. I love working with the glass African beads especially the solid color ones made from powdered glass. You can play with them as far outside the box as you want to go.

LRC and Kathryn R. I agree! It is nice to find these at a good bead site like LB. I am sitting looking at some pieces I need to get listed and at least two of them have the brass beads in the design! I also want to complete some more with the glass pieces. These rondelles are great and I can tell you that I love the bottle green ones! Something about that color is great on leather. Okay, let me get busy….
