“So long, fare well...”

Description from J Yee smart chick: Okay, this morning I looked again at the lovely gemstone beads I had stashed in my LB shopping bag, and - voila, OUT went the beautiful labradorite pebble beads, sigh... as the refrain from that song at the end of "The Sound of Music" danced thru my head, when the Trapp family sings "So long, farewell..." - sigh...

There is a poignancy to this color combination – - wistful, but not too sad just like the song. Love this pick – - straight into my faves !

So sorry Joyce. I did the same thing when I over-loaded my cart with gemstones. I had to make some hard decisions.

This is a FAVE pick. The luster blue and Gaea pendant bring out really pretty colors in the labradorite.

  6. Blooming Ideas
    Blooming Ideas says:

Gorgeous pick! Sorry the labradorite went bye-bye from the shopping cart. Did they get sold out or way it by choice? Either way perhaps Lima will get some back in stock and you can pick up some then? :)

    NY Bella says:

Adieu! Sorry about the Labradorite, Joyce! It happened to me a few times! I would click to see my shopping bag and that glaring memo at at top would tell me something in my bag was out of stock! A stomach-dropping feeling! Oh, well…
    Love your pick, BTW!

Thank you all for your kind commments and questions – nope, those lovely labradorite beads didn’t sell out, I deliberately chose to remove it from my shopping bag, since it was the most expensive gemstone in my bag – it is one of the gemstones that I don’t have any of, and hope that my bead wallet will have some $$ to spare, the next time there is a sale like the crossword puzzle one was – I noticed that I really like certain bead shapes, given my picks this time, i.e. both drap shapes and pebble shapes, even though I am not sure how to use beads with that shape – they might do well in either bracelets or necklaces, vs. the more usual ones I like to make, lariats which are long open ended strands of beads. I would like some designs that really show off those lovely shapes – and did purchase the blue lace drops, rose quartz drops and strawberry quartz pebbles, looking forward to getting the little beauties – ;)

Thank you once again, everyone – I have a few bills this time of month that are due, so I just couldn’t justify purchasing all of the gorgeous beads I had put in my LB shopping bag :(

Coral,Martha, Medieval Momma, Frida, Asia, Ann 706, Alice and Becky, you are all so awesome, thank you for all your support, it is good to be reminded that there will indeed be other bead sales this year – I am reorganizing my bead stash, and coming across some stuff that I now wonder why I bought – stuff that I bought years ago – sometimes I wish there was a way for all of us to swap beads with each other -

    OK Jacki says:

Stunning pick, Joyce. Yes, we’ve all had to pace ourselves. I’ve unloaded my basket of numerous things this past week. I have never followed the crossword puzzle so close, but i’m hooked. Next year for Christmas, I’m only asking for LimaBeads gift certificates so I can splurge in January with all that I love. ;-)

  22. J Yee smart chick
    J Yee smart chick says:

Forgot to add – Ann 706, you’re right about budgets, good to do what you mention, using an older smaller one, even though your income has gone up over the years, that way you won’t get in trouble, such as with purchasing too many beads (or anything else) that you can’t afford.

    Amy I says:

I totally understand. A few nights ago I was putting everything I wanted into the bag. Well, at almost $500, you can bet a lot got put back! This beading thing is totally addictive.

Lovely pick…great way to “stash” the ones you want but didn’t buy this time around. And, if it becomes POD…well, maybe the budget can afford it then. I love labradorite, too. I have these POF (polished one face) slabs of Madagascar Labradorite (picked up in Tucson a few years ago) that I wirewrap as pendants.

  25. J Yee smart chick
    J Yee smart chick says:

Many many thanks everyone, I feel so honored that you enjoyed this one – and I sure hope to have some labradorite in future to make some jewelry with – plus that lovely Gaea lotus pendant – sssshhhh, bead wallet, do NOT lead me back into bead prison… ;)

  26. J Yee smart chick
    J Yee smart chick says:

Science Chick, I missed the photo of the Madagascar labradorite you got in Tucson a few years ago, wow, your wirework is fabulous – is there a difference between what bead shops sell as “plain old” labradorite, and Madagascar labradorite??? 8O – enquiring beaders (me) would like to know!! 8)
