“The Grass is Always Greener”

Description from Karokat: The truth is that my neighbors' grass IS greener than ours during the winter. Our lawn is brown, and will stay that way until April, most likely, because we have this weird grass called zoysia grass. It looks dead all winter - yuck! - so I look across the street at our neighbors' green grass and wish that we didn't have this awful zoysia grass!

Hi! Long time no see! Glad you’re back! What a great pick — sure wish we had ANY sign of green in our neighborhood! Indiana grass is always brown starting in the Fall and lasting until late Spring. Sigh. 8)

So how is dear sweet Sadie these days? Remember when we talked about you doing a series of “Sadie picks” detailing all her adventures? Still sounds like fun to me! :D

I also have zoysia green and it turns brown during the winter! But, I love it! Starting in May, it develops into a lush, carpet-like lawn that is drought proof! Plus, I never have to worry about crab grass! Anyway, I like your green pick!

Thanks for the comments. I guess zoysia grass has some good points. My front lawn does look nice in the summer, but it’s kind of depressing now! We need some green!

Hi Lynn! Happy belsted birthday! It’s nice to be back – things have been so hectic this past year. Sadie is doing fine, except for a few bouts of allergies. Maybe I’ll do a few Sadie adventure picks, if I can find the right beads to represent things. How is your Coco doing? I hope your holidays were wonderful. Sadie and I now need to go on a diet!

Zoysia is beautiful grass! We have Bermuda Grass. it turns brown in winter, too. Go get some winter friendly plants like kale and cabbage, and it will all be fine.
    Pretty pick!

You’re right, Eli’s Mom, we need some pretty purple kale and some evergreens out front, so things don’t look so brown. Thanks for the idea.

I need to take my own advice! Is that Sadie in your avitar? What a pretty girl!

BTW, Eli, Dixie, and myself all need to go on a diet…..:(

Thanks, Sunny Chick! Green is one of my favorite colors.

And yes, Elis Mom, that’s Sadie in my icon – a picture taken by her foster-mom at the Dachshund Rescue before we adopted her. We fell in love with her long-distance and drove from NJ to IN to get her and bring her home.
