“The Old Blue Pickup”

Description from Jogi: I started this pick with the blues from the pueblo colors but found that I had to add copper to strike the right balance for a necklace ready for jeans and tee shirts! My only problem is choosing which drop will be in the final iteration. I think I want a bag of each of these and I could put together several different pieces! I might even add some silver to bring in the chrome of the vintage pickup.

Jogi, I love your pick! I got some of the pueblo beads too and they are bigger than what I thought they’d be (I guess i should read the description, instead of just saying “I want this and that). Anyhoo-this will be awesome with jeans, a t shirt and a pickup! I got one of those too! hahahahah. Sounds like a country song!

Robin, Haha! Thanks! I got some of the smaller ones and I really really love them. Used them on some leather with a Golem bead and they looked great! I like the smaller spacers the best. Yeah, I do the same thing, ooooh, aahhh, I need those! Then I have to deal with them later.

I love the copper with the Greek pueblo beads with round leather. However, the copper beads that I like have smaller holes than the leather. I love your pick. The Stan’s bird fits in so well with your whole life pick.

Wow, great pick. This has got to be a POD. What a perfect combo of that particular blue and copper. I love it.

Love your picks! I have the smaller pueblos beads too. You will have fun creating with your picks. If you make several necklaces, maybe you could wear them together sometimes.

This is very similar to a pick I did recently, so of course I like it! I ordered some, as did Robin, and was surprised at how big they were. Guess I didn’t read measurements either … lol. But strung on some leather, they will be fine.

Thanks everyone! I do agree that the larger beads are a bit, well, large. I think I put some aside that I had gotten earlier with some of the smaller ones. Pam, I tried to pick large hole beads in the copper. I was off on an adventure today when I saw a blue pickup from the 60s, tooling down the road. Made me laugh! I really want to try the bird on something. We will see! Thanks again!

The raku bird is amazing with the pueblo beads! I do believe this is one fantastic pick and would make some awesome jewelry. Please post in the design gallery–would love to see these beauties in action!

Have to agree with Crystal Canary and all above! I swear I’ve see that rusty ol’ pickup around somewhere! Yes, that Raku Bird would be amazing as the focal of a necklace with the smaller pueblo beads strung on leather cord and finished with copper cord ends and clasp!

I really like your pick putting copper with the blue. I did something similar but used lustered african sunset beads.

Congrats on your well earned POD! I agree with the idea of the led Africa sunset seed beads. They come in 4mm cubes and I think 3 know cubes.

Okay, the bird didn’t work, sizes and positions conflicted. The colors of these beads are great but Elaina at LB gave me the idea to use peach moonstone so I paired those with copper rounds, 10mm. Then I did another try, with way too big beads (LOL) and used the copper rounds with the African disk beads from a previous pick, in the bottle green. Still trying to make these work.

I like both of your necklaces. The first one is bold and classy and the second one has an “ancient-world” sort of look to it.

  22. Jogi
    Jogi says:

Thank you Stingray! I wish the beads in the first photo were a tad smaller. I still have some of the other shapes to work with so we will see what these beads bring in the way of creativity!
