“There will come soft rain”

Description from Beady Little Eyes: By Sara Teasdale

There will come soft rain and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;
And frogs in the pools singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white;
Robins will wear their feathery fire,
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;
And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.
Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree,
If mankind perished utterly;
And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn
Would scarcely know that we were gone.

    Beautiful Beady and perfect pick for the poem ….you know I always say that while I do love this planet and being on it that humans were probably the worst addition to mother earth ….so destructive we can be ….I am honestly grateful for every new spring I get to see knowing all the while as a human I am probably not so deserving

    Sara Teasdale’s words, your stunning pick Beady, and Kimberly’s words definitely shows what is happening to earth at hands of mankind.

    I hope us humans can get our act together before it’s too late!! I remember in the 1970′s being involved with Greenpeace talking about the need to care for all Life forms on Mother Earth. Why are people so stupid?? and stubborn?? Any hoo- I love the beauty and volors in your “Nature Rules” pick!!

    Phoenix , do you remember that commercial in the 70s with the Indian standing on the river bank and showing all the pollution ….I was so young then but felt so ashamed every time I saw that and I never forgot it

    Beady , On another note I had to see why Sara wrote this poem and for her I guess it was more about the actual War but it amazes me how relevant it still is

    Yes Kimberly, I remember that commercial and the tears running down his face. Indigenous people’s respect for the land should be a model for us all!

    Beady, a heart-wrenching poem and a pick to portray it so beautifully. Thank you for this reminder that we have to preserve our Home before it’s too late. But I fear that Earth and her organisms will probably outlive humans.

    Congrats on your amazing POD! Liberty’s reminder of that commercial did bring back memories. I certainly wish it could be resurrected and shown repeatedly today. I also wish the pictures of the Pacific garbage patch from several years ago and new ones from today to use as a commercial.
