“Two Roads Diverged”

Description from Melody F: When Kathryn R put up her "Stopping By The Woods" pick, it made me think of another famous Frost poem, "The Road Not Taken". I, like many others I'm sure, took this poem as my starting point for the speech I gave at my high school graduation. So now, I thought, a yellow wood is easy to depict in beads. Ha! I was in way over my head, or rather, lost in the woods. I didn't do as well as Kathryn did, but I tried.

Your yellow pick seems to blossom with optimism and promise for a bright future, yet also seems to me to reflect of heritage and what it has taken to reach this time of golden opportunity. Perhaps it is the arrowhead like a shovel blade of labor; the tree and initial suggestive of ancestry; the gemstone wedge pendants and stick drops like strong pillars; California and Manifest Destiny. This is a beautiful and powerful pick, Melody. And kudos for having given your valedictorian speech! That Frost poem was, and always will be, a good inspiration for life’s journey when at a point to contemplate where you are going.

Melody, your cylindrical wedge pendant tree trunks have me dreaming up a “birch stand” necklace design with maybe 7 of the dalmatian jasper pendants linked with Czech glass Fall Day leaves on lower handmade bead chain, with an upper chain of more leaves with leaves dangling and interconnecting to lower chain. Maybe some smaller 6-7mm matte round aquamarine beads mixed sparsely in the upper chain until both chains merge to one at sides & aquamarine takes over? A golden birch woods project inspired by your pick. There were amber individual Czech twisted glass leaf drops that would be gorgeous for this concept, currently out of stock, but too expensive in large quantity for my budget. And who knows how it would end up coming together in the end. Could just be, “eh.”

Very pretty pick to go connect the road mistaken with the road taken.

Spell check can be a a royal pain! My comment was the road not taken not the road mistaken.

Melody, you outdid me! As an underemployed English Major :o ) now retired, your pick won my heart. I have been in that beautiful “Yellow Wood,” and your pick took me there again. This is a fave. I see so many nice golden pieces that can be made for Autumn and Thanksgiving. Hope it’s not too late.

Indeed the yellow is just as fair, although less traveled-I think it demonstrates years of wisdom!
    Beautiful!
