“Why do they call it oxblood?”

Description from Julie Shane: They could call it burgundy... or cranbery... or merlot!!! All of those sound pretty.
Oxblood??? It just doesn't sound pretty.

I just did a Google search. Oxblood means oxygenated blood, so it’s that deep dark red blood we all have oozing in our veins. STILL don’t think it’s “pretty”!!!

Great pick, Julie! Definitely an ugly name for a beautiful color.

I agree the name of the color is grotesque but it is a rich and gorgeous color. I am reading in the search engine that it is the “it” color this season. It is a dark maroon, very goth and vogue!

If they just called it by its whole name it wouldn’t be half as gross. I’m just not big on torturing animals (bleeding an ox) and that is the picture the stupid name conjures for me. Blood by itself doesn’t bother me and I get the color changes between oxygenated and carboxylated and methylated but leave the animal pictures out of it! :) ALL that said, this is one gorgeous pick!!!!!
