Veronica, have you ever had a kumato? I have heard about them but cannot bring myself to buy tomatoes from a store to find out if they life up to the hype. Great tomato themed pick.

    Thanks everyone!

Yes, Coral, I just bought some kumato tomatoes (i.e. brown tomatoes) for the first time recently. They look odd (green/brown/maroon/red), but they are firm, cook well, have a mild acidity, and great flavor! If I can’t have one of my garden tomatoes or one from the farmer’s market, these are my new tomatoes of choice. I would recommend them.

Actually of the kumato tomatoes I have left, I’d say they closely resemble the photo of the red creek jasper nugget as it looks in the grid. Heirloom tomatoes, red tomatoes, and the kumato tomatoes were the inspiration for the colors in this pick, as the name implies.

A timely pick! The lovely shades of red and the title stopped me at this pick cuz I bought the oddest tomato today-jasper reds and well just like Gray Rainbow Jasper Puff!!

Nancy, that’s ironic. Who knew tomatoes and stones have so much in common?! Or perhaps, after beading a while, one starts to see beads in any object! :) ;)
