“Zilch, nada, zero, nothing”

Description from Granny Nancy: You "need" toilet paper?, forget it. I ordered a package from my grocery where someone else picks up items from my list and delivers it to me... for a price of coure. For the first time ever, the toilet paper is gone. I buy soda in cans because those big bottles are too large for me to handle but the cans were gone. Of course things like hand sanitizers and liquid hand soap refills were also gone.

Able bodied people are stripping shelves forgetting that the people like us who are more at risk for contracting the virus are unable to get what we need at this point and its only going to get worse. I wrote to one of the TV stations in Charlotte about this. I tried to find an email addy for the grocery store but they say they had no account for me after I've shopped there abut 25 years.

Oh sweetie, It’s getting crazy in some places, but I think it will get better, not worse. And soon. It will just take a few days. Meanwhile, Don’t give up! Remember, our ancestors survived without potty paper. An old sheet, torn in squares, could be washed. (boiled?) and reused. I like your zero pick. You haven’t lost your sense of humor or your artist’s eye. Meanwhile in Oregon the shelves are emptying and most events are cancelled. The art museum is closing, the schools are closing, And to top it off, we went from some sunny days when I could sit outside a bit, to a light dusting of snow last night. But I received my latest order from Lima Beads yesterday, including the seaweed horse eye Czech glass beads. Fun! Bought them with a POD discount.

Oh Nancy! The young people and families are going crazy here too. I was at my neighborhood Walmart the beginning of the week and the only open shelves were bleach and hand sanitizers. I was there again yesterday. They must have had a restocking of bleach because there was a few bottles of bleach. However, not one package of toilet paper, not one bottle of water and most of the PowerAde type of drinks were gone. Eggs were also at a premium. Less than a dozen cartons of fresh eggs, a less than 10 cartons of liquid eggs, and several packages of hard boiled eggs were sitting on 3 otherwise empty sections of the coolers. There were several empty shelves in lunch meat and dairy. I saw a couple with half a cart of baby wipes. Near the front were 2 full to the brim carts sitting with no “drivers”. I saw a young couple just park their empty cart under the empty water shelves. Thank goodness we still have Lima Beads to give us something to hang onto. Even if they should have to close, we still have their website to keep us company.

Hey guys, my son came thru. I don’t know where he found it but tomorrow is bringing me an 8 roll package. That with what I have left will be good as long as I don’t get IBS. And… one of the symptoms of the COVID9 virus is diarrhea and/or vomiting.

Its a crazy world out there right now. Based on the 2 comments above, its the same all over. So we’re all into this together. I’m 80 and they keep telling us that we’re the ones at most risk. So as long as I can find a book to read or watch “something” in between chores and giving away my beads, and keep washing and cleaning. They are doing a great job with cleaning here at the Dorchester. So, I’ll be good until this is over. They’ll probably have a vaccine in 18 mos – 2 yrs and then we can rest easier. I am equally grateful for LB picks. They are fun to do and help to have something creative sparking our brains. Prayers to all of you young or old.

Kudos to your son! Even up here in the frozen north, our shelves are empty of toilet paper. What is the mentality that drives this mania about toilet paper? Please explain!
My brother-in-law had several rolls in his fish house so we are good to go and we have filters for our well.
    I am 71 with asthma so I am going nowhere ………. !!!

Nancy, so glad your son could help. My husband found out a few weeks ago that despicable people were hoarding up hand sanitizer and toilet paper and cleaning wipes and RESELLING THEM ON EBAY AND AMAZON! He searched Amazon and found a small case of Purell for $500. Makes me so angry. But your funny pick helps!

Well, supposedly Amazon is hiring 100,000 people to get shelves restocked for essential items. I’m assuming and hoping its for sanitizers, cleaning products, and things of that nature. And one would hope that they restrict the amount of toilet paper a person can cram into their car.

However, since one by one we are all being asked to stay home, getting home supplies will be a challenge until online purchasing becomes easier for those essential things we need.

I already order my groceries online so while abiding by the CDC’s insistence that those of us elderly in senior living facilities remain in their apartments, we will rely heavily on delivery of all that we need.

We do have a kitchen that makes meals and delivers them to us. There’s also a market where we can pick up sandwiches, small salads, CHOCOLATE bars and all kinds of things to drink except for tea and coffee.

The CDC said initially we should do this for 2 weeks but we all know its going to be longer. But we do what we have to do. I’ll be reading lots of books. And with the weather slowly getting warmer, I hope to feel up to taking my dog out for more walks.

Oh my gosh!!! The title of your cute symbolic pick made me giggle!!! Thank you so very much! I really needed to laugh in this surreal time. Hang in there and take care!!! (And, in Georgia it is the same.)
