Hello, my name is Jennifer and I’ve been creating my entire life. I come from a long line of seamstresses, wood artisans, musicians, painters, sculptors, and other artists. I’ve done a little bit of everything it seems but in the last 20 years or so I’ve concentrated on beadweaving, bead embroidery, and other jewelry making. My family means everything to me. My Grandparents became fairly well known for the stuffed animals they made and later, especially their teddy bears. I lost my Mother suddenly last Fall to cancer and I haven’t been able to complete many projects since. Lately I’ve been trying to get back in the swing of things, so to speak, since I never feel right if I don’t have a creative outlet. My family here at home consists of my man, Jeff, my other best friend Benjamin who just happens to be the most awesome cat ever, and approximately 40 reptiles. We breed Australian dwarf monitors (ackies), Blue Tegus, Cyclura Lewisi hybrid (Cayman Island blue rock iguanas), as well as the endangered Ctenosaura Bakeri (Blue Spiny tailed iguanas from Utila Island). Since more than half our reptiles are blue I guess it’s obvious we love that color! …especially TARDIS blue since we’re both Dr Who fans, too. I love Nature and have lived in Alabama all my life. I’m fortunate to live in a truly beautiful state. I try to raise awareness of Bipolar Disorder and OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) when I can and have rededicated myself to that mission since my Mom’s passing because she was a psychiatric nurse for over 30 yrs then a healthcare nurse for another 16 yrs. I want to continue her legacy of helping others as well as my own. I also have found that beading truly helps me with these disorders and I believe it or other creative endeavors can help others also trying to find a balance in their lives.
