Spiked Necklace Combo

Step 1

Choose the supplies and spikes you would like to use in your design.

Step 2

Take your 5' length of Artistic wire (if this is too much for you to work with all at once, split it into 2 lengths) and wrap around the African brass tube several times. String your spikes onto the wire.

Step 3

Begin wrapping the spikes tightly around the tube in pairs or as singles.

Step 4

String your 2' length of 22 gauge wire through the 7x17mm spike. Double the wire over and twist up at the head of the spike. String the wire through the bottom of the tube.

Step 5

Once you have pulled the wire ends through the tube, form a messy wire wrapped loop.

Step 6

String the suede lace through the loop and knot to the center of the necklace chain.

Step 7

To attach the clasp, use an oval jump ring. String the jump ring through the end 2 links, hook on the clasp and close the jump ring. On the opposing side, string on another oval jump ring through the end 2 links, then attach an 8mm (or so) jump ring the to oval jump ring.

Step 8

For the shorter necklace, start by making a wire wrapped bead link using the 3 remaining 7x17mm spikes. Make sure the loops are large enough for leather to string through. Bend the ends up slightly.

Step 9

String the leather around the the first loop a couple of times, then pull across the spikes and string through the second loop a couple of times. There should be at least a couple inches of suede lace tailing off of each loop. String the chain through the same 2 loops, pulling until both sides are even.

Step 10

Attach the clasp just as in step 7.
