Tassels are everywhere right now, why not dress one up and perch a bird on top? My inspiration for materials and colors comes from the festive sparkles, twinkling lights, snow, holly & tinsel.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Arrange ribbons and string for the tassel.

Step 2

String the tassel ribbons through a large jump ring until the ring is at the center.

Step 3

Add chain to the ribbons by securing lengths of chain to oval jump rings.

Step 4

Secure all the tassel materials together by binding with hemp or another cord.

Step 5

Wrap over the cord using Wooly Wire to form the top of the tassel.

Step 6

Form a wire wrapped loop using the Wooly Wire, attaching to the large jump ring at the top of the tassel. String a large hollow lampwork glass rondelle onto the Wooly Wire.
TIP: If you put Hypo Cement along the end of the Wooly Wire (1/4"), you can better manage stringing beads onto it.

Step 7

Wrap a 6" length of ribbon around the Wooly Wire above the lampwork rondelle. This will act as a buffer between glass beads.

Step 8

Once the ribbon is secure, string on the extra large red lampwork bead.

Step 9

Following the extra large red lampwork bead, string on 3 large jump rings then the ceramic bird bead before finishing off the wire wrapped link by forming a large loop at the top.

Step 10

Now comes the fun part :) You have a choice to create your own chain using different bead materials like Czech glass and Raku, or just use chain or leather or ribbon. I chose to finish the necklace by making a semi-homemade chain. I created several bead link chains and fit them into an already created chain by opening the chain links.
