Starfish Dreams
by Rebecca J on 06/10/11
About this design:
If the grass is always greener for us humans, do you think starfish want to fly? This is a simple piece together design that can have endless variations. Use scraps of ribbon, dangle leftover beads, and stamp and stack any metal blanks you may have lying around.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Stamp and texture your brass blanks with letters and designs that appeal to you. Our nine in one texturing hammer will really let you vary the patterns you can make on your blanks. I used the cross hatch hammer on the donut blank and went over it several times, leaving room for the starfish. See Tip: Hammering Texture on a Blank |

Step 2: Add holes to any pieces that need them, in this case, the donut. See Tip: Using a Helicopter Punch |
Step 3: Color your brass with Gilders Paste. I used Damson on the "shhh" stamp to subtly highlight the letters, Verdigris on the donut to accent the texture and stamp, and Rich Gold on the Vintaj wing blank. I love the way the gold sparkles over the rich Vintaj color! |

Step 4: Stack the three pieces and join with a jump ring. String a couple of beads (or several if you like) for a dangle and attach to the jump ring with a wrapped loop. |
Step 5: Cut a four inch piece of ribbon and tie it around the end of your feather, tie the feather to the back of the jump ring, then tie the entire pendant to the center link of a chain. Make the chain any length you like. |
|
Step 6: Attach your lobster clasp to the chain with jump rings and you are done! |
