The Ear Ring Tree

About this design:

I made this tree several years ago. In fact I made three of them all different. The first picture is just the tree and the second one is with ear rings. The other two trees I use to display bracelets (no photos). Their limbs are shorter and there are fewer of them. I really like using this tree out side. The breeze keeps the ear rings in constant motion and provides a real eye catcher.

These trees aren't too difficult to make. The pot and rocks are from the 99 cent store, the floral wire and tape are from JoAnn. The plaster of Paris is from Dixieline Lumber Co.

I am considering making another one or two and if anyone is interested in trying it I'll post a step-by-step with instructions.

ceramic pot, plaster of Paris, floral wire, floral tape, a bunch of ear rings

What a clever idea, Nancy! Yes, please, I would love to have more specific instructions for making these trees! :D

For those of us who are “craft challenged” (except for jewelry-making, of course ;) ), a mug holder — the kind that sits on the kitchen counter and usually has 4 “arms” — makes a great display item. So do banana holders — the kind that keep the bananas off your kitchen counter. :D

What a great idea Nancy! I love it!
Yes, please do include instructions! :-D

Wire CD racks make good earring displays as well.
I found a wooden Lazy Susan at a flea market, and 2 CD racks and bolted them together. My husband mounted the racks to the Lazy Susan. Voila! A rotating earring display! I decorate it according to season by placing flowers or leaves inside the rack.

OK Ladies. As soon as I recover from the dental work I’ll start on a step-by-step instruction. They aren’t really all that difficult to make. However, they are just a bit time consuming.

Oh so cool! A friend of mine showed some of my pieces at an “Old Home Days” for me (no sales alas :( ), she placed an actual branch (no leaves on it) in a metal flower holder … like you see in flower markets … with kitty litter to hold it up (she has 4 kitties). She hung my earrings and one set from it and it looked lovely. Your idea of a metal tree is brilliant … a resounding “yes please” to the instructions.

I love this! I have a small tree made of a thorn bush what I sprayed gold – and it’s pretty for holiday displays, but doesn’t travel well. I’ll try this – thanks for sharing!
