Blue in Bloom

About this design:

As soon as I finished my "Spring Green" necklace I knew I wanted to do another one using the brand new Tulip Garden DecoEtch die and the marine patina from Vintaj.

Vintaj flat oval chain and precision leaf altered blank, czech glass beads, pearls and fluorite left over from Spring Rain challenge.

Is this a real etch? I mean, like are you using a chemical to get pattern onto the metal? what gauge copper are you using? Thanks!

This isn’t a chemical etch. I used the Vintaj Big Kick and one of their DecoEtch dies on the pre-cut leaf shape (also from Vintaj). Super fun and easy to do!

Thanks for the reply. Sure beats the mess of chemicals and time spent doing it the “old fashioned” way! Nice work!

Hi! Great necklace, thanks for sharing. Can you tell me what the setting was for the a Big Kick? I can’t seem to get such a deep impression this die. Thanks for any help you can give!

P Gemin, mine doesn’t have settings as such (I have the Vintaj edition but I thought they were all the same). There’s a super thin clear plastic shim that fits over the bottom cutting board that came with mine and then the two clear boards that you put the dies in between.

I didn’t really love the way the decoetch dies came out on thier own, but working the patina into the design and wiping away (takes a few applications on each spot) and then buffing the whole thing with the reliefing block really works nicely. Hope that helps!

Stunning. I think I’d like to see it in cranberry tones, too.
