Victorian Trash to Treasure

About this design:

Digging through the junk jewelry box and found one of those necklaces that comes attached to a blouse. Remember those? Including photo of said tackiness. Well I hate wasting stuff so tore it apart, went in my bead stash and went to work. Wound up with a necklace and a bracelet.

Old brass necklace consisting of chain and various connectors. Various amethyst glass beads and crystals and silver lilac beads from stash. LOTS of jump rings.

I agree! How can I not love anything with such lovely purples!?!?!

BTW: You’re just showing off and setting the bar really high aren’t you? ;)
I haven’t even recovered from getting thrown into another challenge… :0

  3. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Among the not so wealthy south its called “make-do with what you got”. Remember Scarlett O’Hara’s curtain dress?

  4. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

No no Julie I was doing this before all the blingy repurpose challenge thing….I swear.

  5. NY Bella
    NY Bella says:

Yes, Julie, ahe is setting the bar really high! I’m still eye-balling my can opener!

  6. Deb Harding

  9. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Thank you Susie. And yea I still have a few parts left to put in my stash. Hey I didn’t watch that show for 7 years for nothing…well also to look at Richard Dean Anderson.

  10. Asia
    Asia says:

You did such a great job, Deb and yes you are setting the bar high :D I’m in a real trouble as I do not have the flair for bling, oh I’m in trouble…:D

  11. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Just don’t think of it as bling just the color.
    And thank you Asia.

  12. Julie Shane
    Julie Shane says:

Ok Deb. So what you’re REALLY saying is that this new challenge is so natural to you that you can do it in your sleep… AND set the bar too high!
    ;) & LOL

So we’ll add EXTRA to your challenge to make it “fair” for the rest of us: You have to use some of Scarlet’s drapery! HA HA! You know I’m just playing!

  13. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Hmmmm I think some of that is in the stringing material actually. No wait that dress was velvet…I might could do that.

    foxhill designs vt says:

LOVE the make-over you gave that mess. Why would anyone put all of that on one chain? To bad there were no matching pieces to make earrings. ;)

  19. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

HaHa on the mess….that’s why it went straight to the junk box. I think I’m going to make earrings out of just the beads though.
    Thank you.

  20. Frida
    Frida says:

Ohh I can imagine you dancing and having the whole survival kit on :D

  21. Deb Harding

LMBO. I can’t add a single thing here. We all know who has a head start on the repurpose thing. :) I once built an entire highschool homecoming float with duct tape so I know how great that gift was they gave you. :)

  23. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

WOW that float had to be awesome!!!!! I love me some duct tape.
I cant figure out why you guys say I have a head start…I’m just repurposing jewelry here. Not the same thing at all. ;)

Another genious at work! Love it, Deb!
Beautiful results from a big pile of funky stuff!

Ahhh, RDA aka MacGuyver & Colonial Jack O’Neill. Sigh……what a dream! Never get tired of seeing his MacGuyverisms and hearing his witty humor. :-)

  31. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Another RDA fan!!! Have you seen his Zaxby’s commercials. He spoofs his MacGyver character and its hilarious. You can find all 3 on YouTube. And while I loved his MacGyver part he really came into his own on Stargate. That is my all time favorite TV show ever. As.evidenced by the photo of the boxes set here! Best gift ever last year.

Thank you Mary. That thing was a big old mess before.

  33. Nancy Mc
    Nancy Mc says:

Deb..this is a really cool set. I’m especially loving the bracelet. I do remember those clothes. I think they were around, when wearing a short sleeved sweater over a blouse was in “vogue.” ;)
    Awesome work!!

  34. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

    Thank you Nancy Mc.

  35. CAS
    CAS says:

Hey Deb … gorgeous! Why don’t you do mis-matched earrings???

  36. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

    Thank you CAS.

I thought of that but all those left over connectors aren’t really that attractive and way too dissimilar in shape. I’ll probably use them in asymmetrical necklaces or as pendant charms.

  37. CAS
    CAS says:

Why not paint them with the Vintaj paints or the new Swellegant ones??? Even “ugly” would look good with them covering it.

  38. Little Round Chick
    Little Round Chick says:

Your solution to the tackiness is fabulous! Doesn’t it make you feel good when you can rescue components from a terminally ugly piece of work? My friend you have done a first class rescue job! Love it! :D

  39. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

Terminally ugly LMBO! That’s exactly what I thought when I pulled it out of that box. I almost rescued only the chain.
    Thanks for.the compliment.

  40. Deb Harding
    Deb Harding says:

CAS I am thinking of using patina on them at some point. There’s one in particular that’s ugly as all get out. One day…

    Mary - Sweet Chick says:
