Chunky Copper & Glass

About this design:

Bought these cool copper spacer beads. Using up some copper chain and glass beads in my stash. Practicing designs. This is what I should have been.working on instead of the annoying flower one. This took 45 minutes maybe.

Copper chain. Copper spacer beads. Copper rings and lobster claw clasp. Purple glass beads.

This is cool Deb. I’m playing around with Vintaj brass, but haven’t gotten brave enough to try copper. It’s so bright that it tend to intimidate stones and pearls and crystals… and me!
Your bracelet gives me an idea to adapt for a couple chunky beads I have. :)

It can be bright but not all of it is. These spacer beads have the black in the indented areas. Just like brass some has that bright shiny (cheap) finish and some is more…rustic I guess.

Awesome piece, the beads are beautiful, I agree with you on the copper matter, Deb :D

Gilder’s Paste! It works wonders to “tone down” too bright metals.

Cute bracelet Deb … just the right amount of “rusticness”. :D

    Thanks Asia & CAS.
Gilder’s paste…I haven’t gotten any of that yet but I’m interested.

It’s a great “nooks and crannies” kind of thing, so the more detail the greater the effect will be. It’s easy to use … rub on … rub off excess … seal if desired … done! LB kindly carries an excellent number of colors too … you can do patinas … change a metals color … or highlight with red or blue … so much fun! You have to try it Deb! I’ve even used it over the Vintaj paints.

Over the patinas….wow. That sounds cool. When I made my Mom’s necklace I used nail polish over the patina on the focal. It turned out beautiful. A happy accident that the polish was the same color just basically sheer.

I’ve thought about using nail polish, but I’ve never had the guts to try. Good to know that it works, maybe I’ll get up the nerve and try it.

Go look at my Waterlilies for Mom necklace. There is a close up of the ribbon slide. I don’t think I would ever use a solid color. But the sheer that matches the patina works kind of like a glaze. It made the color look so much better on the art metal. Made the parts where I rubbed off the patina have a sheer color. Plus…glitter!

I see what you mean … it looks great! On the plus side too it’s a great way to apply glitter. I’m absolutely going to have to try it. :D

I’m thinking of buying nail polish to match the other 2 colors that came in my kit. Sheer with a hint of glitter of course. LOL
