African Earth

About this design:

Beyond pearl knotting again. I don't think this is finished, but can't think how else to embellish it.

Silk cord, fiber chain, copper chain, some sort of stone barrel, African glass beads, millifiori beads, copper daisy spacers.

Very freakin’ cool!! Ditto what Asia said. If I were talking to someone who was wearing this, I would not be able to keep my eyes on their face!! I’d be staring at their…..necklace!

Yep, this is such a cool piece! I love it! The design, the colors, everything!! My only question is, does this piece have a clasp? Are you using it as a lariat? How does it stay on? Just by wrapping? Was this your concern? Hope you don’t mind my questions..

I agree with the other comments, that this necklace has a great balance of color, texture, design, as is. That said, the designer always has the last call…

Thanks, Ladies, for sll the comments!

Maria, this is a lariat and has no clasp. It stays in place simply by tying the first half of a square knot.

This is GREAT! The simplicity of the loop and let it freefall is so appealing. I agree with everyone that there is SO much detail and texture and interest that it doesn’t need anything else.

You can wrap it one more time and wear as a choker if desired.

Thed lady who showed me how to make these adds lots of dangly things to hers, and they tend to be “busy”, but they look fabulous! She is very talented and has a great eye for color and texture…I have learned much from her, but am still trying to develop my own aesthetic…
