Rough Wrap Necklace

About this design:

Got these pieses of what I think is some kind of slag product...
First I wrapped it (wanted it a lil bit tighter but but). Also hammerd the wire on some places. Then I was ohh color this with my new vintaj patina must be perfect, so I did that. Found these two Gaea beads I had ordered and they where perfect in color. The button is a wooden button I painted to go with the design.

Slag Stone, Artistic wire (LB), Gaea Ceramic Beads (LB), Leather Cord (LB), Irish Waxed Linen(LB), Vintaj Patina(LB), Wooden Button, Acrylic Paint.

Thank you Lois, Becky and JC Hamm :D

JC Hamm, it has a glass feel to it. Then part if it has rusty rough areas. When I was a child I lived up north in swe where we had small brooks where one could pick green and turqouise slag. Sadly my friend didn’t remember where he picked this.

Ditto! A rustic beauty for sure.

I have some sort of “block” in my brain that stops me from doing this type of wrap! LOL. I am going to have to take a picture of my attempts, maybe you can give me pointers! :)

I have a heckuva time getting them tight enough so I usually end up trying and then cutting it all off. How do you do that?? When do you put it on the stone with an organic shape like this??

First: this is such a cool, beautiful piece!
2nd, for Becky: to tighten wires, once it’s wrapped, you can grab the wire with your pliers and give a bit of a twist. This tightens the wire, and leaves you wth a zigzag in the wire, kinda like the ‘break’ symbol you put on a graph….

Thank you Eeka Mouse and Alice!

As E-M said one can twist it bit after. What I also did is that I had lose ends upwards, sticking up from the bail, those I tighten when I was done with the wrapping. One must be careful thoug to not break the wire…
