About this design:

The many colors in the Grace crystal beads surprised me. Instead of a strand I intended to snag at the Milwaukee bead show, these jumped into my hand and insisted, "Buy us!" At home, I wondered what to do with them. In the end, I just let their colors do the accessorizing, and you see the result.

Grace crystal beads; silver-plated links and clasp; Czech rondelles and fire-polished rounds; seed beads

Thanks! It is a happy necklace. I wear it when I’m in a good mood. Oh, and that’s a twisted herringbone stitch with fire-polished beads at intervals. I wish I knew how to do kumihimo, but I don’t.

Thanks so much! It was fun to work with bright purple, red, yellow–not my usual palette. It’s good to try something different.

Love the twisted look of the seed bead portion too. How do you get it to stay twisted, if I may ask?

Mary, the stitch keeps the beads in place. It’s a variation on herringbone called twisted herringbone. There are two ways to start it–flat and round. I’ve tried both, but use the round method now. Here’s a tutorial:
